More Late Night Ranting--OITNB

So I see a bunch of people being reasonably upset that they have killed one of the greatest LOC in TV history to be Edgy (C) and I get that. I also get that you’re pissed it’s nothing but white writers who are doing this, and now you all suddenly hate the show. Cool. Glad you’re not supporting something that you don’t feel deserves support. 

But this ain’t new. Y’all have been jerking off every damn one of these people for years now, talking about how amazing and progressive it is. Ignoring the fact that the writers were all white (except season one with one Latino individual who left after) and the fact that the main character is a manipulative #educated white lady who more or less uses all of the WOC around her like fucking dolls, pulling their string whenever she’s in trouble. Y’all ignored the fact that the word “bisexual” wasn’t even said in the first season when the main character is a bisexual. Y’all ignored so much from this show cause it had “great representation” But now y’all acting like a petty soon to be ex saying “it never meant nothing to me, I’ve always hated this show” making all these hate posts about how much the show disgusts you. 

I’m not sayin’ don’t be pissed now. I’m not saying down get that shit to 0 fucking stars for what they’ve done. But don’t be pretending that you weren’t ready to hop on Netflix’s dick for that show all this time. Don’t forget that you voted 5 stars two months ago. 

Always hating the show and getting verification isn’t the problem. It’s that y’all didn’t do your fuckin googles, and now you feel betrayed because you thought someone gave a shit for once. They don’t, I’m sorry, but pretending you always hated it won’t change anything. The reason this hurts so much is because we loved it, and now we’re leaving it, with nothing else to go to.

So, I’ve delayed this long enough, but why not begin a new blog with a light roast of the fandom? Ok, a few weeks ago in the Shinoa tag I saw a post belittling Shinoa into being called “ weak and pathetic” for having potential feelings for Yuichiro, and to say I was angry was like calling the sun a candle. 

Ok, so this fandom’s logic is feelings = weakness, right? THEREFORE, Mikaela is the weakest person in the show because he has attachment to Yuichiro. Yuu is the most pathetic thing in the world of anime because he holds attachment to Mika and his squad. Guren is a weak ass ho because he still holds onto Mahiru. Am I irking anyone now that I’m applying this logic onto other male characters?.

I’m not gonna go into the whole male bias because I will rant for eons upon eons. Lemme start off with what Shinoa has accomplished as a person WITHOUT weakening. Shinoa is a Hiiragi from birth. Remember in the very beginning when that guy found himself in a restricted area? Shinoa flat out told him that it is not THEIR job to help idiots too dumb to listen to rules ( basically what she is implying ). But, it was the others that willed her to go in the end.

That was an example of the NON-LEADER mindset she had before the team. Hiiragis are at the top of the food chain in human society, and Shinoa did have plenty of confidence in herself and her abilities. She spoke rather disrespectfully to Guren as she flat out ignored his superior position to her.

Shinoa would have been an ATROCIOUS leader if Guren hadn’t broken her disillusionment of being a “top-notch” leader. She ignored the team and made the decisions herself. She frequently reprimanded Yuu. She did treat him like he was inferior to her as a soldier / squadie / whatever. She was not a good candidate for a leader.

Now, let me get to how YUICHIRO affected her. He is unbridled in the field. He is passionate and determined, and he has a mind of his own. This made him a challenge for Shinoa who was a bit inexperienced in leading, and he was something difficult. She tried to make him “less reckless” through books, comments, etc, but we all know that his heart and will are a bit too strong for her to just bend it however she likes.

The squad including Yuu was THE FIRST REAL family Shinoa had. They loved her back, and she is a bit naive in how to act with them. She grew up neglected, but she’s slowly learning how to cherish people. She’s learning how to be compassionate & determinded ( this is Yuu rubbing off on her in a way ).

NOW, to her feelings for Yuu!! When Shinoa first thinks of her feelings for Yuu, she doubts them by saying one such as she could never love. Mind you all that this is the careless, little shit of a girl talking who barely knows platonic / familial love. Her own feelings are hard to understand and convey, but she doesn’t go “ Yuu~~~ ILU < 33 “. She knows her responsibilities and continues her duties, and she stays by his side.

Shinoa Hiiragi HAS been affected by Yuichiro and the squad, BUT it does not make her weak or pathetic in the slightest. I will defend any female character being called “weak or pathetic” for being a girl. Shinoa is talented, smart, decisive, and has potential to grow into a amazing leader once she levels herself out. She is learning. She is growing. She is loving. She is caring. And, she is not weak in the slightest for being human.
