👉🏼 10 LPs in 10 Days Challenge 👈 10 ALL-TIME favorite LPs 💿 that are Always in Rotation. Day 10: #KMD #BlackBastards ————- First off, this shit isn't even fair because 10 albums isn't enough. By all rights this list should also contain Ice-T's Original Gangster, BDP's By All Means Necessary, Large Professor's The LP, Big Daddy Kane's Long Live The Kane, King Tee's Tha Triflin Album, and Son Of Bazerk's Bazerk Bazerk Bazerk. And it doesn't even touch the runner ups. Damn! But if I have to take it to only 10, then I'll end it with an album that should've gotten it's due when it was originally recorded but label bullshit got in the way and made it even more legendary then it already could've been. If you don't know the story of the album you should Google it because it's heartbreaking and infuriating. I like KMD's debut, #MrHood, but I don't love it (although #Peachfuzz is the joint!). But even upon hearing 3rd Bass' Prince Paul produced hit #TheGasFace, I knew that I was always going to be a #ZevLoveX fan. And then, seemingly, KMD had one album and disappeared. In the pre-internet age it was tough to get the info on shit that is always at our fingertips now. But when the net was in it's infancy I found a website for an online store out of NYC that specialized in Rap called #SandboxAutomatic and they were selling a release on an indie label called #FondleEmRecords titled #BlackBastardsRuffsAndRares by KMD. What the hell? Sign me up! So I ordered it, got it and was promptly floored. Yeah, this was Zev Love X and his brother #Subroc (RIP) but it was so different than Mr. Hood. And it was so much doper. That EP set me on my journey to find out more about what happened with the sophomore KMD album. And that journey also introduced me to a reborn Zev Love in a mask recording as #MFDoom. So as soon as #Doomsday dropped, I had to have that, too. Black Bastards finally saw the light of day on a small label called #ReadyRock in 2000, 6 years after it was shelved by Elektra.
