Day 180 since we had Dreamon Hunters on the Dream SMP
I wanna elaborate on why I want the whole "DreamXD used dream's body to commit war crimes while Dream let him have it because he was out of options" because it brings up a whole ethical argument about blame

Lets say we follow the idea that Dream's body is just a vessel for XD (Dream's influence as the "admin" of the server was wavering so Dream had to consult a dreamon and hence allow it to guide/use to maintain order again);
It wasn't Dream's mind that commited the atrocities, merely his body. DreamXD was the one spitting out the uncaring words and pulling the strings as an apathetic god. Dream's body is merely the tool, the murder weapon...
Was Dream the one at fault if it was just his body, not his mind.
I got this idea inspiration by looking into the idea of mind control tropes. Because the aftermath of such events is basically an ethics question and really twists the perception of Dream even more. I wanted him to be a little more complex in his thinking, be given an explanation behind how he became such a twisted villan in the DSMP
I want there to be a reason why he's so compelled to break so many people to reach a goal.
Possession in this context is more layered than simple "oh he was used as puppet he didn't ACTUALLY do it!!!"
Because he is very aware of what XD used him for, he allowed XD to use his body. And while watching it all happen, he cannot distinguish what he did and what XD did. He believes himself to be the one behind the wheel, XD had convinced him he was, so he lets 'himself' be the villan and subsequently XD do all these horrid things to others, to tear everyone apart with the promise of 'one big happy family'.
And so it begs the question, if dream allowed it to happen, is he at fault? Is dream responsible if he allowed XD to use his body, is Dream at fault for the things XD used his body for, is Dream a perpetrator or a victim?
I want there to be a debate about the morality and ethics of this, full on split. Because it's honestly an interesting question. Can your body be considered a tool to crime and if you aren't in control, is it truly done by you with criminal intent?
I want Tommy to be conflicted when Dream is without XD. He's merely a guy who think be still has a god in him, so when he realises it's all stripped away and he's left a shallow empty husk of himself, what will Tommy do? Scream profanities at what he's done or take the hint of pity?
Ranboo too, what he he think of this, now having to take neither side of the argument of Dream's own fault? He doesn't like Dream for obvious reasons yet now he doesn't want to take a side on who is responsible for the crimes. It's more sides and divisions, he doesn't want that.
Sapnap and George? Will they still believe the good guy Dream is still there, the one that does care for him? Or say he's still the bad guy?
I want them all to grasp at straws, all the characters trying to figure out this question: 'Is the most terrifying and power hungry tyrant on the server actually at fault?'
Its not going to be as simple as "oh our little meow meow did nothing wrong he was just being manipulated"
He allowed it to happen, so he's guilty
But he only believed that because his reality of his own self and own perception of action was twisted by XD, so he's innocent
i just like to ponder about this complicated question, because there isn't a real life equivalent to the question, people have to figure it out themselves. I like divisive questions of ethics and morals, and DSMP already is dealing with morally grey concepts so why not?
