it seems we are all about keeping our own space safe..

Reason is a factor of perception. So how exactly does it change the way we perceive?

And all the beautiful people aren't so beautiful, and all the stars have lost their luster, and all the colors have faded into monochrome. And the clocks wave their hands around in your face, spinning by so fast you nearly fall over with how dizzy you are, and you clutch at your pounding head except you find nothing there. Reality is perception: it is consciousness that allows us to experience yin and yang in a different way, perhaps even as a mixture rather than two separate parts or just knowing it.

In reality, with every positive there is a negative (1:1) but we skew reality, because reality is perception; we haven't evolved to see the world the way it is, but rather the way it's useful. It doesn't matter, though, because the byproduct of happiness is real so who cares? This is exactly why it depends who you ask: it could be negative for those who reject such a view, or positive for those who embrace such a view.
