god, you're so pretentious... deconstruction and recontextualisation of different mythologies and religions has been a pretty popular phenomenon for some time now, but yeah, sure, god of war is bad because it portrays some gods more human-like and cruel.

Yes, those deconstructions and recontextualizations have been around for a while. Some of them are interesting, most are mediocre/harmless/not worth talking about, then there are examples like God of War that could be misinforming about actual history/culture because they are so high profile, exponentially more popular than something like SMT and its Barbara Walkers.

So it should be no surprise that I, someone who has been talking myth in SMT for 10 years, would criticize God of War, too, for similar things. And here's the thing: even if it didn't have a shred of mythology in it, God of War still tells a truly unexceptional edgelord and contrived story with puddle-deep writing and themes and a protagonist with the emotional depth of an 8-year-old, lol.
