Chz't returned with an overly-happy smile on his face to find Marissa, Kit and the new kid, Jessica, all waiting for him at the meeting place. He came in empty handed though, and Kit gave him a scowling look of disappointment. Marissa winced as she saw an illusion of Kit appearing behind him and snapping his neck and popping his head out of place, and even Jessica, though blind, felt the need for fear in the air. Of course, she was just standing there next to them the whole time as Chz't approached, but her illusions made the horrific illusion seem so real to them. Kit walked calmly over to him with her hands folded behind her back, taking her time with each step.
"Chz't, where is it?" She spoke to him smoothly, disguising the stress behind her voice. Chz't just smiled at her smugly, like a child who didn't know that he or she did something wrong. "Dear Chz't, you failed me. I had so much faith in you sweetie, but you failed your master once again. You promised me the return of this trans-dimensional axe, but you have not delivered. I guess Char was right, you really are a failure. You failed as a battery, and now you're failing me as my assistant. I don't ask you for much, jus-" To keep himself from getting torn up emotionally by the fox creature, he spoke up in his own defense.
"Waitwaitwait!" He spoke up. " Ihaveitrighthere! " He swung his long, pointed tail around to reveal that the metal-covered tip was now modified with a cut along the edge, like a chunk had been drilled out and removed, leaving a valley from the tip to about a foot and a half back. He flicked his tail once and a beam lit up, running form one end of the "valley" to another. He lowered it slowly and a "rip" appeared, which really just looked like a long vertical distortion of the air around it.
"Now, onethingIfoundaggrivatingaboutthedesign, isthateverythingisrandom, youcan'tchoosewhichuniverseyouenter. Sorry,Kit,butthat'sjusthowitworks..." Chz't explained to her.
Kit looked curiously at the tail and frowned. "Now Chz't, That's not going to do your master well now, you know. How am I supposed to find a species like me elsewhere in the universe when the device I need to get there is attached to you? And at that, how am I supposed to find my way there?" Chz't lowered his head in shame. "I'msorry..." Is all he could whimper out. Kit sighed.
"It'll have to do. When I go in, I want you three to follow, Chz't will escort you to your "assigned" universe." She spoke to the others behind her. "Now, everyone move in. You know the plan." They all followed Chz't in to the rip in time-space, and split off to search the other universes.
-K Meanwhile, in Char's lab, the fox drifted off to sleep. Unbeknown to him that in its case, the GSMTVA lit up with a red light.
