A "rant" on age difference
This has nothing to do with writing whatsoever, I know.
But I have been seeing people shit on age difference so much, shitting on people whose parents have an age difference, that it's making me crazy.
My parents have a 12- year age gap. My mother was legal when she got married, and her decision was her own.
My father is neither a paedophile nor some twisted manipulator. As a 29-year old, I will understand power imbalance when I see one. And I do not see one here.
In a relationship with age difference- it is NOT always the males (for hetero relationships) who abuse the other. It is NOT always the older one.
I have always maintained that maturity level plays a huge role in a relationship. Anyone below 18 having a relationship with an age difference that huge would definitely be wrong. There is a reason why 18 is legal. The reason is fucking maturity.
BUT, I will not have you crap all over my parents' relationship because you are not attracted to someone more than a year younger than you.
There are SO MANY wonderful couples with huge age difference that respect each other and love each other and adore each other.
So, no- age difference isn't bad. Not in itself. It's when people go into it with the wrong ideas and motives, for the wrong reasons that it becomes wrong.
Sometimes, people fall in love and they happen to be 10-years apart.
Just make sure there is consent and understanding on both sides.
And obviously, they should be legal.
And DO NOT SHIT ON PEOPLE WHO ARE IN SUCH RELATIONSHIPS. OR ON PEOPLE WHOSE PARENTS' ARE.
Words matter. Words are important.
P. S. In reference to the post: no, teenage girls/boys, that grownass man/woman isn't going to fall in love with you.
But a grownass woman/man and a grownass woman/man? It can surely happen.
