hate how they retcon reaper lore in the later seasons. tessa doesn't even look like tessa, she just takes on that form to get dean to trust her. but what she actually looks like, what she calls her "true form" is the scary floaty thing dean sees hovering above him when he's flatlining. and that form looks a lot more similar to the reaper we see in 1x12. reapers are freaky! but they can glamour themselves to look like anyone. and it's not a vessel like angels, it's more an illusion. or like a shifter / siren. the reapers are not occupying someone else's body they're just altering their appearance to look more human.

anyways society IF they kept playing with reaper lore instead of demoting them to some class of angel.

Reaper Headcanons

their spectacles are what make them capable of seeing (literally anything) cinematic records; the thing that makes them shinigami - but that is also their greatest weakness. Reapers in love will touch each other's glasses, the frames, or lovingly bump their spectacles against each other :3 (I've written examples here)

Ronald is known across the entire office as the go-to after-work party person

Ronald has a watch but William says Ronald never uses it (wrong, but Ronald sometimes struggles being on time and William is salty)

William is salty

they don't celebrate birthdays (they're all depressed af, why would they)

but they do celebrate achievements and from time to time there's a cake at the office when a reaper has succeeded splendidly as of late

William has a coffee addiction

Ronald has a tea addiction

Grell's office is actually used much more than you would imagine for someone who does barely any paperwork - she uses the desk space to dye her clothes red

Grell will sneakily place paperwork on the stacks of her co-workers

William will sneakily place said paperwork back onto her desk

It's a battle - the other reapers make bets on who will win each day

the reapers live in a dimension away from humans, heaven, hell, purgatory - they're little bubbles in time and space which exist all around the world. i.e. if the reapers need to visit a different country's dispatch, they need to travel through the human world first and then travel "up" to the dimension

the reapers don't know that they don't have to reap a certain amount of souls for a certain amount of decades until they are forgiven by some higher intelligence caring for the afterlife, they have to forgive themselves and want atonement for ending their life

Grell breaks into William's flat from time to time - not to do anything, but just to be near him. William lets her, he stopped trying to change the lock a long time ago. Grell has a cup for tea in William's kitchen which he lets her keep there - he even buys her favourite tea to keep in stock.

They're friends, but it's a love-hate sorta thing

Reapers have something called a 'death day' - once a year, a reaper does not have work as they re-live what happened. It's sorta like human beings sometimes being affected by the moon's cycle? 6 months away from their death day, reapers feel perfectly fine, ecstatic, with no memory of any angst or pain, no memories at all of their mortal lives, the closer they are to their death day, the closer they get to their tangible remains on Earth, and the more memories they have until... their death day is upon them which is 24 hours of pure hell for them, forced back into the state they were before ending it.

the English Reaper Dispatch has a "buddy system" for everyone's death days. no reaper has to go through it alone.

Grell and William are there for each other

William is also there for Ronald. Ronald is there for A LOT of reapers - he's a super supportive friend.

Ronald brings everyone their favourite drink at each start of his shift. That also means he knows exactly who is working and when. He's a super attentive reaper. Everyone loves him.

William babies Ronald sometimes - not on purpose, William just used to have sisters he needed to care for all on his own (negligent parents). One of them was Ronald's age towards the end of William's mortal life. Subconsciously, William has taken Ronald in and cares for him.

William doesn't show affection through physical touches. He shows affection through ensuring each reaper has come back from their tasks in the mortal world. If someone is late, William goes to investigate and make sure they are safe. He hides this by saying he was making sure they were doing their job - the world would end before William admits he cares for anyone.

All reapers live in flats. The flats exist in reaper dimensions to which only pigeons and grim reapers can go. Each country's division has their own dimension. Reapers can visit other country's dimensions.

Grell used to have a sister.

Grell was a top-class seamstress, working especially with theatre houses in London, and is used to being the one that starts fashion trends among nobility. She herself was not noble, but invited to enough parties to feel noble. She had a secret boyfriend amongst nobility. Things didn't end well there toward the end of her life...

I'm new to your page, and The Reaper is the first story I've read from you. Let me tell you this was unexpectedly suspenseful and darkly enjoyable for me! I have a couple questions for you if you would indulge me :D

Am I correct to assume that Jungkook told Oc to keep running and not hide so she wouldn't be captured by another reaper even if it meant he would lose his chances at her being his wife? He would rather let her have her freedom than be treated poorly by another reaper. She was so close to her freedom too! But would it have been freedom tho? You're right about her choices. Jungkook was the lesser of two evils *sigh*

Also, what language was Jungkook speaking at the first half of the story? Why did he choose to speak the unknown language with her instead of the language they both knew?

The reveal of the Lord being Jungkook's biological father was not expected! I was kept on my toes the whole time. I found myself surprisingly very sympathetic to Jungkook for the majority of the story especially when he was juxtaposed against Oc's other potential suitors *ugh*. Oc always had my sympathy.

Hypothetically, if you were to continue the story, would Oc ever see her mother and father again? How many children will she and Jungkook have? Will she come to love Jungkook eventually?

I was soft when he washed Oc especially after he explained to her why the others were looking at them in astonishment.

You know what, I think The Reaper might actually be a good entry fic for my blog lmao. And of course, I would love to answer your questions!

Yes! He wanted her to keep running so that another reaper would not catch her. If she were to try to hide she would have been caught by someone else almost immediately - they know those woods like the back of their hands. Her best bet was to keep running.

The unknown language was made up hehe. It had some Latin roots and I kind of just slapped some sounds together that sounded good. When he says "Mea Lunatta" he is essentially saying "My Moon" but in his language, the direct translation is "My Wife." Because of their close relationship with the Direwolves, they have an appreciation and respect for the moon and you can see it embedded in their traditions and language.

Reapers are not permitted to speak to their spouses in their language until after they are "married," only when they join the reapers through marriage are they allowed to speak to one another and understand their culture. Another reason why they can only speak in code is so that the spouses don't know what to expect during the hunt.

I randomly thought of the father plot twist and asked my best friend if I should do it and she immediately said yes 😂

Would she be permitted to see her family? Usually, no. But we know Jungkook is willing to bend rules and break tradition for her and as the potential future leader of the Reapers, he would have the power to allow her to see them. I can picture her and Jungkook having 2-3 children, but I think 2 is the most likely. Would she come to love Jungkook eventually? Potentially. In a society where you are considered less than a man, MC knows that JK is the safest bet. He would treat her better than any other man and she know that so that could contribute to her having feelings for him in the long run.

Angels, Demons, and Reapers

More JSE Monster AU stuff! Just rambling about lore and backstory of the world in which the AU is set. This idea specifically, about the three worlds and what these creatures are come from my own story idea, so it’s not based on any mythology.

Demons

Demons are personification of negative thought and ideas. They can range from intrusive thoughts, to the concept of nightmares or fear. The more broad the concept, the more sway/power a demon has. Their powers are based largely on what they personify.

Generally, a demon is stuck in the Abyssal realm. They can't physically leave unless summoned. However, they can influence those in the mortal realm without leaving their own. They aren't the source of their concept, but they can influence those who are.

Because they are based on ideas, you can't really kill a demon. You can banish it back to the Abyssal realm by destroying is physical form, but the only real way to kill it for good is to kill the idea behind it.

Angels

Angels are the exact opposite of demons. They are personifications of positive thoughts and ideas. They can range from Love and Emotion, to Protection and Bravery.

Angels occupy the Celestial Realm, not being able to appear in the mortal world physically unless they are summoned. They can, however, inspire those who tap into their concept.

It's impossible to kill an angel. You can destroy their physical form, but the thoughts and ideas they are based on will eventually have them reform. The only way to kill an angel is to kill the concept being it.

Reapers

Reapers are the most interesting group out of these three. They are neither positive or negative thoughts and ideas.... But neutral ones. Because of this, they can range from small things, like weather and plants, to things like Time and Gravity. They're the most abundant group of the three.

The Reapers don't have a home plane, instead being one of the only beings that can move through the planes at will without restriction. They can also be summoned, but that is not the only way to contact them.

Reapers, like the above two, are personification of a idea, not an actual being. They can't be killed unless you kill off the idea behind them. Reapers are also the most bountiful of the three.

Relations and Realms

I think it's safe to say that angels and demons don't like each other. They are opposites, positives vs. negatives. However, it's rare to see them fight, as they rarely even consider going to the other's realm. When a demon is in the Celestial realm (or an angel in the Abyssal), they become debuffed, for lack of a better word. This is because a single negative thought surrounded by a lot of positive ones is less effective. The same goes for a positive thought surrounded by negative ones.

Conversely, both Angels and Demons become much more powerful when summoned in a physical form in the human world. Which is why it's incredibly dangerous to summon a demon under any circumstances, and it's always advised you have someone else there with you. If you ever see a battle between an Angel and Demon, it will likely be in the mortal realm.

Readers are the only ones not effected by realm. Their power isn't effected by positives or negatives. It just is. Reapers don't care much for the squabbles of Angels and Demons, focusing instead on mortal souls trapped in the mortal realm... Also known as ghosts. Their job is to help those spirits move on, not to fight with eachother.

Possession

Possession usually refers to having a demon control your actions, however, here any of the three above can possess a person. Each is a different expirence, and not all are fun.

Demons posses by force, slowly creating a bond with someone before exploiting it. Their victims often feel pain during the possession, and after if they've sustained any injuries. It's a blur for them, but they have no control over their actions.

Angels posses by want. When someone calls on them, an Angel can come to their need and strengthen their resolve. This can be in the form of adrenaline, thinking of retorts faster, or just a comforting touch and the feeling that you're not alone. They come in times of need. Being possessed by one can be comforting, as you are still in control of yourself, but feel their power in you.

Reapers posses by permission. They must have a verbal (or non verbal for those who use sign language) agreement to do so. They can lend mortals their magic and skills, and the two participants seem to fuse for the short moment they possess someone. Some may even call it calming.

Anti

Anti, in this AU at least, is the demon of nightmares, sleep paralysis, sleeplessness, and insomnia. He's not as effected by change as others, as his concept is one that has existed for hundreds of years. His powers are altered slightly from the basic demon, and he can cross slightly into the mortal realm when he's focusing on one person. This allows him to seem to touch them and manipulate their surroundings.... But he can't cross over completely this way.

As he's been a constant, Anti is pretty powerful and interested in the mortal world. Not all demons are, but he catches glimpses of what it's like through people's dreams. So, he tends to collect his 'Pets'. People and monsters that catch his eye. Very few make it out alive.

Jackie

Jackie is a Guardian Angel, or, more accurately, the Angel of protection. His base concept is just that, protection, with some hints of family, love, defense, etc. He gets called down the mortal realm a lot to help people out. He can't be everywhere at once, however, so there's a few other Guardian Angels he coordinates with.

Jackie really likes the mortal realm, especially comic book stores. He loves superhero stories especially, and tries to replicate them in his day to day activities. Chase finds this odd, but hey, he can't really judge Jackie.

So, my name irl is kinda unique?? Idk, it’s not rlly a common name, at least where i live. (this is relevant) and back in middle school there’s this kid that pointed out that my name could be like- rearranged? Pronounced as? Idr exactly but he used to call me ‘hi-die’ sometimes. I didn’t mind btw, i thought it was funny

ANYWAYS, we were messaging in one of the various discord group chats our friend group had (they all had different purposes and different members based on purpose) and he called me grim reaper, ig bc of the ‘hi-die’ thing? So, i thought it was funny but didn’t rlly put much thought into it beyond that.

So, i was coming up with a tumblr user and decided to add in grim reaper to it bc it would be funny. And it just kinda stuck. I use it for a lot of my socials now 🤷‍♀️
