Beheading Poor Mimi Bobeck and making a Chubby Blythe
A guide on removing Mimi Bobeck doll's head. It's really very easy! And no heads need to be harmed in the process besides it leaving the body! This guide is for anyone who wants a Mimi doll body to rebody / body swap /hybrid with other doll heads. I did mine with a Middie Blythe!
From this:
To this:
Mimi's head seems very dense and thicc but vinyl is vinyl and will soften with hot enough water. The trick is to soften the neck hole specifically with enough water hitting her neck.
What you need:
Boiled water
A clear glass or cup
A Mimi Bobeck victim
A stick of some sort that won't melt in hot water
Rubber gloves for those sensitive to hot water
The mermaid got her legs! And the tennis champion got to take a little break and enjoy an oceanic vacation! 🤣
You probably know the downsides of these dolls better than I do by now, but just for the sake of completeness: weak ankles that make posing unnecessarily difficult, particularly since this body is heavier than regular MTM. She also has slightly lower range of motion due to thicker limbs, with the thighs being the main offender. Not sure there is a good solution for that, but it does annoy me a bit that her fingers don’t reach the floor when she’s kneeling as flat as possible. Speaking of hands, the fact that they’re made of soft plastic and the wrist joint is so tight needs heating before you even think of removing them feels like a pretty dangerous combination.
I was also a bit surprised at the difference in color of the plastic parts, nothing too bad but the hard plastic joint parts are noticeably more pink than the rest. Also I don’t think I’ll ever get over how weird square knees and elbows look, but that’s more of a general problem with designing double joints.
Thanks to natalunasans I have a few pairs of shoes for curvy Barbie, but as a bonus these Simba Twilight Teenz shoes are also a decent fit. The Jenny shoes from last post too, but they’re a bit wide.
(It would be pretty funny if this post got flagged since technically this body has built-in underwear.)
Hi sorry to bother yoy, but do you know how to remove shopkins shoppies heads from their bodies? Thanks in advance for even reading this!
Hi! I’ve never had one but i’m sure someone’s done this before. Boosting!
Platinum Pop Barbie Fashionista. New body and hairstyle. Shoes and shorts My Scene.
I just think they’re neat.
The skin is warmer toned than I would have liked, I had to cut down the head peg and her hair is still wet.. That facial sculpt is to die for though. And the paint isn't bad at all!!
But I finally got a body for the thrifted ballet Pocahontas. I've had her for a year from this place near my aunt - her ballet body was... Sculpted.
I think her head shrunk over the years because it's hard, but with some hot water there was little trouble.
I might look into cutting old hands to fit the new body because the sculpt is quite nice.
And at some point I'm going to have to bite the bullet and paint her tattoo.
Original for reference from Google. I do wish she'd had her clothes and shoes.
