Sierra Leone Association of Ebola Survivors (SLAES) is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals who have survived the Ebola virus. SLAES provides various forms of assistance, including medical care, psychological support, and advocacy for survivors' rights and needs. USD 200,000 will provide a three year basic income for all of the 156 Ebola survivors registered by the Sierra Leone Association of Ebola Survivors in Kenema.

Anxiety was like asthma.  The way it constricted his breathing at first was barely noticeable, Steve felt at ease ignoring it until his ribcage ached with a familiar need.  He needed to breathe, but dammit it was fucking hard.

Sick with a ‘condition’ of any kind Steve was intimately familiar with but had not directly thought of himself as having in years.

He associated emotions with shellshock; the cultural malady of being ‘weak’.

Steve spent his life being anemic and underestimated.  He wasn’t keen on letting that happen again.

Hopping into Easter season already. This year has presented some challenges. Not ones that were not expected. There’s been alot pivots in my life over last two years.

Some days I wonder will I grieve the rest of my life for what things never were, could never be, and are truly ends.

Then there’s the new beginnings. As someone who can fall in the trap of codependency very easily, I second guess a lot. I’m a little more cynical than I used to be. I’m a little more anxious about next steps. And, I easily fall into patterns that don’t serve me well.

Sound familiar? How do I handle it?

I give myself grace. I remind myself each moment passes. Make the best decisions you can. Look to the future with optimism. Take care of my own needs first.

Iconic Manchester statue explores rebuilding lives after war

There are now over 50 pieces of photography on display at AMARFolio and included among them is 'Victory Over Blindness'. All images on AMARFolio are taken by supporters of the AMAR Foundation.

In 2018, Blind Veterans UK commemorated 100 years since the end of the First World War by unveiling the iconic ‘Victory Over Blindness’ statue at the entrance to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station.

Its name 'Victory Over Blindness', was a declaration used by the charity's founder Sir Arthur Pearson and it continues to guide the organization's principles today.

The statue of seven blinded soldiers, is a testament to the thousands of blind veterans the charity have supported, in the ongoing efforts of Blind Veterans UK, to rebuild lives after sight loss.
