Welcome to a fancy getaway in [MEDIA]! We invite you to celebrate a party after the fact, once you get past the spoilery-yet-completely-essential intro (and title) that sets up some tantalizing questions you'll be thinking on for the entire experience. Get to know your hosts and fellow guests (including some compellingly-written female characters), but it'll be difficult, some of them don't spend as much time in the party compared to others, some might as well be ghosts that no one knows, and some have skeletons in the closet (no, none of them are in the closet, but a guy gets literally locked in one). What, no one likes what's happening at this party? A shame the weather is so bad that everyone has to stay here. After all, you can't miss seeing the others' reactions, unveiled secrets, smoking guns, and that one recurring song. And don't skip the ending, even if it's a tricky one! It'll leave you with a lot to chew on.

This book has one of the most diverse casts of characters I’ve ever read, and that’s saying something! Even just our protagonists have an incredibly diverse spread, and time is given to every unique viewpoint and more than a few culture clashes. Do you love a man who’s basically a homeless raccoon with hidden depths? A sensible every-character surrounded by VIPs? A crotchety angel? A precocious tweenager? How about a sassy sidekick? There’s something for everybody! Supporting characters include a girlboss who may have done crimes, a kid who loves his dad, and the most iconic lady you’ll ever meet.
But you need more, you say? How about redemption arcs? Redemption rejection arcs? Savvy political maneuvering? Positive depictions of adoption? Sass battles? Bilingualism? Mentally ill characters? Pretty horses? Dysfunctional family dynamics? Environmentalism? Positive fat representation? Ride-or-die BFFs? This has all that and more! And there’s basically endless additional content depending on how deeply you’re willing to commit – there’s always something new to discover and love!
