Some of my favorite trans and nonbinary books that, as a bonus, have really awesome audiobook editions. I’ll listen to anything Vico Ortiz narrates tbh; they’ve got a great voice and apparently top notch taste in books. Lakelore spoke to me on a deep and personal level. The Monk and Robot books are maybe the two most calming and restorative books I’ve read in my entire life. Self Made Boys is a more compelling version of The Great Gatsby (I said what I said).

since making this graphic, I've read Sword Crossed and You Should Be So Lucky and they both were in my top reads for 2024. fucking slap. I own Diablo's Curse but was having a real mental block reading YA for pretty much all of 2024, so despite my excitement for it, I haven't read it yet.

I'm so happy to have read so many excellent books about trans characters & by trans authors in the last couple of years. I'm not exaggerating when I say these books changed my life

I was lucky enough to read an arc of Cross the Line by @ luckyhartwrites on insta & it was such a fun time! Lots of pining and flirting, with a little dash of forbidden romance. Both MCs are likable, and I adored all the brothers and their dynamics - which is awesome, since the book is the first in a series following each brother falling in love! There's a decent amount of miscommunication, but I thought the author did a good job setting up why those conversations would be unattainably hard for the MCs to have without an outside event spurring them on. There's an age gap, which could be dicey, but the author does a good job of having the older mc consistently reflect on how he didn't have any sexual or romantic feelings about the younger me until the younger was 21.

I very much enjoyed this book and will enthusiastically read the others in the series! Full review on sg & gr
