At the very beginning when he just realized what exactly those feelings he had for you meant he kept them to himself, he didn‘t want to ruin anything, he quite liked the friendship you two had after all

He really had wanted to hide those feelings but it got harder and harder with every passing day and the more time he spend with you the more these feelings seemed to grow (it didn‘t help that Dutch send you with him on every job because you two worked so well together)

After realizing that he couldn‘t hide them for much longer he decided to be careful, be smart about it

He started leaving small trinkets around your tent, most of the time he would just say those things could be useful for you and at first they were useful things, like cartridges for your revolver or a few treats for your horse, you didn‘t think much of it at first

but then those small and usefu gifts started to get more…..personal, like some herbs he had found and arranged to look like a bouquet (of course being mindful to make sure those plants wouldn‘t mix in a bad way together), sometimes he would even go out of his way to steal more expensive things during a robbery, a watch that he thought would fit you well or a new holster for your guns

He would start trying to spend more time with you outside of the jobs, going fishing with you or taking you on a hunt that felt more like a trail ride

Javier would attempt to teach you how to play a guitar too, depending on how skilled you were he‘d even lend you his guitar to play a few songs on your own, if you weren‘t that quick with learning he‘d be content to just sit with you by the fire and show you a few easier things at first

Javier likes giving gifts more than talking about his feelings, of course he‘d eventually like to properly talk to you about it but until he can be sure that you do like him that way he sticks to giving you small gifts and trinkets
