More than 600 people are missing in the wake of the Northern California wildfire known as the Camp Fire, authorities say. It's a number that has ballooned rapidly and is expected to continue to fluctuate. The Butte County Sheriff's Office had said late Wednesday that 130 people were missing; on Thursday evening, the list had grown to 631. However, that number may include people who escaped to safety and do not realize they are being searched for. The death toll also rose after seven sets...
In a shift away from plastic containers, Coca-Cola’s Hong Kong distributor will produce more drinks in cans and glass bottles, and roll out hundreds of water dispensers across the city as part of its waste reduction and recycling measures. Tin Recycling from Electronic Waste
Reviving Valuable Metals
Intoday’s fast-paced digital age, electronic devices have become an integral part of our lives. From smartphones to laptops, these gadgets have revolutionized the way we communicate, work, and entertain ourselves. However, with technological advancements comes a pressing concern — electronic waste. As we upgrade our devices, discarded electronic waste, or e-waste, has emerged as a significant environmental challenge. The good news is that within this challenge lies an opportunity — the revival of valuable metals through effective recycling, particularly tin recycling.

Turn waste heat on the underground “tube” network into district heating schemes....
In what sounds like an amazing use of energy, heat from the London Underground will soon be used in 1350 homes in London.
Waste heat from one of the tube lines will be channelled from the Northern Line to support the London Borough of Islington's district heating. This will provide local homes with heat by the end of the year, as well as offices and leisure centres. https://www.lonelyplanet.com/articles/london-underground-heat-homes

Why not do this with all air conditioning waste heat too????? http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.666.2600&rep=rep1&type=pdf Phase 2Phase 2 of the Bunhill Heat and Power network involves building a new energy centre at the top of Central Street, connecting the King’s Square Estate to the network and adding capacity to supply a further 1,000 homes. The core of the new energy centre is a 1MW heat pump that will recycle the otherwise wasted heat from a ventilation shaft on the Northern Line of the London Underground network, and will transfer that heat into the hot water network. During the summer months, the system will be reversed to inject cool air into the tube tunnels. https://www.islington.gov.uk/energy-and-pollution/energy/bunhill-heat-network
Nearly 30 pounds of old crayons from all over the country land on Kim Martonosi's doorstep every day.
Recycling can look hard but here is how to recycle those random things (like shoes and crayons) to make it easy for you.
