Daredevil: Unleash Hell - Red Band

Elektra is a woman whose hands are stained with blood, for she long ago perfected the art of murder. But now, seeking to wash that blood from her hands, her journey is taking her into Hell's Kitchen, where someone else is attempting to make art from bloodshed.

I'm not sure why, but this one took like a year for me to update it, and as such I'm sure I've forgotten some details. But from the last three issues I caught up on today, the bloody good time I remember enjoying last year has continued here. It's a book that fully lives up to its Red Band status.

I liked the angle on Elektra as a recovering murderer, but that's something that's been done numerous times. The part that stands out strongly is Muse and his protégé Morgan Whittier. There's a surprising depth to the idea of art and criticism, which, even though it's being discussed by a villain, comes across as more rounded than you'd expect, and Morgan's final arc takes some twists and turns that made me happy.

There is some light deus ex machina in the third issue, but it merely enables the story that follows instead of resolving it. Ghost Rider is behind it; your mileage may vary for whether or not it ruins the stakes happening earlier on. For me, at least, I had a wonderful time; truly, a magnificent work of art.
