Art for Red Carnation, very inspired by the original manga panel of Giorno carrying Mista like La Pieta. It’s not depicting any specific scene of the fic, though, just the overall vibes? I guess it could be related to the poisoning scene from the garden party :) It’s a slightly older art (from October last year) that I never posted but has been my pfp for a while now.

Barbara of Portugal (Maria Madalena Bárbara Xavier Leonor Teresa Antónia Josefa; 4 December 1711 – 27 August 1758) was an Infanta of Portugal, and a Queen of Spain by marriage to Ferdinand VI of Spain.

This more-than-half-length portrait depicts the queen outdoors, wearing a yellow silk gown with red robes and a blouse with ample lace cuffs. A rich group of diamonds and rubies adorns her bosom and sleeves, while a diamond brooch in her hair is complemented by matching earrings. The spray of flowers in her right hand includes a red carnation, a customary iconographic element in matrimonial-engagement portraits of future queens.

The undersuit of the outfit is jet black, which contrasts nicely with the white main outfit- and the white also fades to red when you reach the lower half of the sleeves, the lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat. Accent colors include gold, silver, black, white, gray, light purple, and dark red. The shoes, wristbands, and Niles’ hat and bandana all have patterns of carnations on them- and the only other accessory is a red carnation pin on Niles’ hat. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat, sleeves, and collar.

Maram hears a footstep and sees Zababa before them. But before they see him, they feel the trademark electric tingle and faint smell of ozone in the air, telling them that this is no trick of their imagination, and no dream or nightmare.

He's holding a cat.

All that power and fury... and yet he still looks on them with nothing but adoration.

Maram freezes. They curse internally, wishing that right here, right now, their body hadn't defaulted to freeze instead of fight or flight. They stare at Zababa, the same feelings they held when they ran flooding back to them. They don't blame the cat, their spice, she'd never do something that she thought would hurt them, but they can't stop the fear in their heart.

They don't know what to say. They don't know what to do. They don't understand.

"... why. uh. are you here."

It's the only thing they can make themself say right now. They know that their racing thoughts and conflict is shown on their face as clearly as if it was written there, so at the very least they don't have to worry about their statement being considered thought out in any way. It's obvious that it's the only thing they could manage to say with all the thoughts racing through their head.
