You know that old expression “when pigs fly”? I feel like they are missing the second part of the saying because I’m pretty sure it should go “when pigs fly… there will be massive piles of disgusting shit raining down from the sky and all of the air will smell god awful because of those swine bastards”. Just think about how filthy those fuckers are and how horrible birds are and once you combine them you basically have a living nightmare. Ughhh, I just got the chills from thinking about it. I always love it when a brewery is able to make me love a style I’m not usually too big on and Avery has me swooning over this like a 10 year old boy looking at the bra section of a Sears catalog. A nice caramel and floral hop burst starts things off with a nice hop wave of bitterness mixing in afterwards before ending with a malty sweetness mixed with more floral hop flavor to round things out. Avery is constantly putting out amazing brews and this is no exception to that because they took a style that usually is pretty neglected and blah and elevated it into something down right amazing. If you want to taste a red IPA done the right way make sure you pick this up because if you think you’ll have to wait until “when pigs fly” in order to find an example of the style that you’ll love, hopefully you get covered in swine shit because this beer kicks ass. As for you n00bz out there, this is probably going to be a bit much for you but once your taste buds get their weight up, you’ll be ready for this so make sure you keep it in mind. Oink!
