"Red's Untold Tale," a canon companion novel, reveals that Red's last name is in fact Lucas. Using this info, I headcanon that Cora's last name, before marrying Prince Henry, was Mills. When Regina cast the curse she chose her mother's maiden name for her new name. And by default, her family's name.
The canon LGBT+ character of the day is
Ruby Lucas / Red Riding Hood from Once Upon a Time, who is bi / pansexual!

WhAT—
Once fucked up when it came to portraying gay relationships until S7, but I do appreciate one thing.
It was never a big deal that one of their queer characters, was queer. There was never any coming out scenes or a big deal that they were. These relationships were treated just like any other and I feel that’s important, for the days when hopefully no one has to come out period. If they want to share their sexual orientation, they can, but if a girl brings a girl home, their parent doesn’t bat an eye.
Ruby’s conflict wasn’t that she wasn’t sure if Dorothy was gay or that she was conflicted about being gay. She just didn’t think Dorothy felt the same. Snow didn’t hesitate to help cheer her onto happiness, just as she did with everyone else. Again, there’s no coming out. It’s just “You love Dorothy, go after her.”
Similar with Mulan. Her conflict was also that she wasn’t sure if Aurora would feel the same. Sadly, her story didn’t have as happy an ending and they could never bother to give her one. (Still salty about that.) But it’s not even Aurora’s sexuality that keeps them apart. It’s just that Aurora, is with Phillip.
Alice and Robin never came out. Their story isn’t treated any differently. Zelena gushes over how in love her daughter is and is so supportive. Hook never says anything about it being different. There was no coming out arc.
As someone that wishes I could just date who I want and not have to explain myself to my family...these plot lines gave me hope.
And it’s honestly why I believe that being gay in the EF and other realms, isn’t as big a deal as it is in our world.
