I just had a glorious thought occur to me.

For use in fanfics.

You know how in stories spellcasters not infrequently curse someone's entire bloodline or family?

The definition of family can be just "whoever this person considers family," or whatever the writer wants.

This can be used for any fandom, obviously, for angst or fluff or whatever, but I think it would be especially funny for identity reveals?

Specifically, I was thinking of the Batfam. Imagine Bruce gets cursed with something, (pre-redhood reveal), and the magic-user says something along the lines of "I curse you and your entire lineage!" And Batman's just like "jokes on you my parents are dead and none of my kids are bio." Only to come home and realize the spell did not care one bit about genetics.

You get Tim breaking down when he realized the spell considered him Bruce's family. His dismissal that the spell made a mistake and everyone rushing to correct him.

Alfred's wry "so glad you see me as family, Master Bruce, but I assure you I did not need a curse to reassure me of that."

Once they realize Tim and Alfred got hit, they have to call Dick, who is with the Titans freaking out because when in the heck did he get hit by a curse? He hasn't fought any magic users lately?!

Obvs someone realizing Red Hood got hit by the same curse, and being utterly bamboozled having to reevaluate who he could possibly be.

Talia eventually has to call Bruce to get Zatanna's help because "a child in her care" got hit by a curse, and neither she nor Ra's can remove it. Which of course Bruce is immediately suspicious of because why does she have a child from his family?

You could also have Jason making fun of the Batfam for all getting cursed by the same person, while also trying to figure out how he got hit with the same one, when Tim irritably reveals it was a curse on BATMAN that just so happened to apply to his entire family, and Jason nearly falls on his face in the realization that Bruce still considers him family.

So much potential. I have too many WIPs right now to do one myself, but anyone is free to please use this idea with whatever characters you want.

I would love to see them so do tag me if you remember, but don't worry about it.

Dispatcher: 911. What is your emergency?

Jason: A bear has broken into our cabin basement and I need animal control to move it.

Dispatcher: So you have an intruder in your house?

Jason: I.... guess you could call it that.

Dispatcher: Are you in a safe place?

Jason: Uh, no. There is a bear in the basement.

Dispatcher: Are they armed?

Jason: Uh, sort of??? They have big teeth and really sharp claws.

Dispatcher: Can you give a description?

(At this point Jason realize she is just following the emergency response card, and not really listening.)

Jason: Yeah, he looks like Smokey the Bear.

(She never gets it through her head that he needs animal control. Dick and another officer arrive, with their hands on their weapons.)

Dick: Where is the intruder?

(Jason thinks, “That figures. The moron of a dispatcher forgot to tell them it’s a bear.” Jason shows Dick the door. Dick goes downstairs then comes running back up looking as if he has seen a ghost.)

Dick: Oh, you meant a bear bear?

Jason: What kind of bear did you think I meant Dick? A big, hairy, gay guy?!

Chapter 3

Jason would’ve been fine, except that he’d been caught in a sudden vicious, territorial dispute between two minor gangs. 

He wouldn’t make the same mistake again, would remember that nothing was predictable in Gotham no matter he thought he had the pulse of the place. Shows what you know.

His muscles trembled. His whole body was one big bruise. The book in his hands nearly slipped and fell to the floor. 

His own fault. He’d been overconfident and, as such, hadn’t considered all factors. Like crazy young people desperate and high on holding a gun and well also drugs.

He’d been incognito, still he’d shifted so he could rapidly access a small gun holstered against the base of his spine alined for concealment and quick assess.

But the assholes were shooting every where, in a panicked high completely reckless. 

Jason had just used it to end the life of a whimpering pimp he’d been tracking for a while, only to make a clean get away and get caught in crossfire. Idiot. 

Was he sorry? No. Not about that man, or about all those who’d come before him. He wasn’t Robin anymore. As Robin he kept to Batman’s edits. No more. 

Dick worried he was turning into a psychopath. He wasn’t a psychopath; he had moral lines. Things he wouldn’t do. It was simply that they didn’t always coincide with Bruce’s. And now, thanks to the tall, midnight haired beauty, with curves lush and skin that glowed under sunlight of the late afternoon, he could see beyond he pain and need to punish, to hold them accountable. It stemmed from the need to protect. He wanted to focus on that. To be a proctor. And maybe he take time to rethink how to go about protecting.  

It fit her, the wild. The compulsion to see her again a pulsing beat in his blood.

For the first time in his life, Jason Todd wanted someone of him own. Or he admitted to wanting. And it had nothing to do with anger or revenge.  

“Oh.” Raven walked by, halfway to the kitchen she halted, her eyes widening as she caught sight of him seated on her reading chair, books strewn about him. “You still hurt Jason?”

He shook his head. He did, not enough for her to take it on. “I stayed back, to see you.”

A blink, a hint of colour on her cheeks, matching her exercise top, her bare feet shifting.

“What you reading,” she said at last, coming over.

He didn’t resist, in fact he handed the book over, making space for her on the lounger. A frown on her forehead and her silky braid slipped over one shoulder, she examined the book, sitting next to him with care.

 “Whenever you feel like criticising any one...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.”** she read the passage near his thumb. 

This close, he could see that her eyes were not just black or violet, but a whole galaxy in twilight. His scars were ragged and showed by the edges of her midsection bearing pink, skin tight top. Most likely not done healing just yet. 

And she smelled heavenly, of night ending, toothpaste and freshly washed clothes.

She caught his eyes, he needed to stop starring, tilted her head in a way that felt oddly familiar, even after all theses years. 

“You’re staying for me?” A hesitant softness to her voice.

“Yes.” Why was she surprised by that? Raven was the most fascinating person he’d ever met, her skill evident, he was alive wasn’t he, and utterly mesmerised.

So this is just concept art from an idea I had when I first watched Gotham! I really thought Jerome was going to be Red-Hood at least once or something...especially how the episodes were line up...but that didn't happen-☆
