On this day 45 years ago, April 18, 1980, the Southern African country of Zimbabwe gained independence with the end of British colonial rule. These photos depict guerrillas of the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army, one of the two main liberation movements that spearheaded the anti-colonial struggle.

Under British rule, Black Africans in Zimbabwe faced severe oppression, enduring apartheid-like conditions. They were denied access to essential services while being forced to work on farms and mines for minimal wages, all while their white oppressors enjoyed a life of luxury.

During the liberation war, ZIPRA and the ZANLA fought against colonial forces, ultimately compelling the white government to negotiate.

Rhodesia, later renamed Zimbabwe, was governed by Prime Minister Ian Smith, who once boasted that “white rule in Africa would last for 1,000 years.” However, the struggle of the Zimbabwean people led to independence in 1980, with Robert Mugabe becoming the country’s first Black Prime Minister.

Well! Since our favorite crazed human appeared again, I almost immediately had to draw her!

Again, more lineless art practice ^^ I think I did a better job time :3 (Sure, I spent around 30 minutes experimenting with different techniques, but I found one that works .😭) Basically, Sketch, “Lines”, Color the same color as the lines, then shade to make it Pop!

To fill up the page, I decided to draw little Chara. Looking way too innocent LMAO. My reference photo really helped!

Aaand, again—to fill up the page to make it less empty, I made a short documentary esc paragraph that you could hypothetically find in the librarby :3 Here’s the little passage

((12 years ago, History rewrote itself as weknow it. The first human fell into our world. “Chara” is what the human called herself. Despite being illegal, Our King Asgore took her in as a dreemurr, as a daughter.

Chara wasn’t particularly fond of monsters, apart from the prince. Perhaps his cute, innocent face made her think differently. Chara, despite being odd and sometimes rude, she was harmless. Or, so we thought. What we didn’t know is that this human was planning something that’ll change monster history forever, in the grave.

Without any of us knowing, Chara planned a huge massacre with her being in the center of it. The human killed hundreds of monsters during the massacre. Our King did nothing, That wild human could’ve killed all of us if it wasn’t for her. We all learned a lesson. Kill or be killed. That’s the only way to live now.))
