Hilda’s bond with Reshiram
When Hilda first accepted the light stone she felt warmth as her palms when she held the stone close. It was nowhere near strong enough for her to feel as though the object would burn her, more of a comfortable warmth if anything. However, after this the stone would remain cold to the touch. During this time Reshiram was watching her, gauging who she was as a person, if she was indeed someone pursuing truth, and what her intentions were. Hilda’s own internal battle as she fought to find the courage to stand up for what she believed in was a factor that did delay Reshiram’s awakening.
The legendary had to be sure she was not simply seeking power, and that her intentions were good. Hilda choosing to push on and face Team Plasma, even if she was at an obviously severe disadvantage, without the dragon’s acceptance was the final act that secured Reshiram’s judgment of the teenager.
When Reshiram did wake it did not hold back an ounce of it’s power as it battled Hilda, wanting now to test not just her intentions and resolve, but to test how she worked with her pokemon and her strength. This intensity did result in Hilda receiving a few minor burns, but nothing a nurse wasn’t able to patch up later. At this time a telepathic connection was formed between the two, and as a result Reshiram is able to communicate with Hilda via telepathy and is greater able to read her thoughts and emotions. This connection also allows for Hilda to be able to call upon Reshiram, regardless of distance.
Now that Reshiram has accepted Hilda as it’s hero the dragon is rather protective of her, willing to stand against any danger that should come her way. It is very paternal towards Hilda, but does not hesitate to be blunt towards her and while kind, will not coddle her. The dragon shares the wisdom it has accumulated in it’s existence with her, Hilda herself often wanting to know more about the legends and seeking to learn from the past heroes’ mistakes. As time grows on Reshiram aids Hilda in her efforts to improve pokemon and human relations.
Eventually, once Hilda has aged beyond the ability to remain hero and it is time for the woman to retire and settle, the dragon will have to seek a new hero. Any children Hilda has being the first candidates. The dragon will remain holding a bond, regardless of she is no longer it’s hero or not, until Hilda eventually passes.
