Old Tamba ware mizusashi jar 16th century (Dealer: misakadou) – Ko Tamba (Old Tamba ware) mizusashi in fine antique condition without restoration (though chips at edge). Momoyama – Early Edo period, Japan. Originally made as a jar, though because of its attached lid, applied to use of ‘mizusashi’ (water jar for tea ceremony) by the predecessor as a ‘chajin’ (lit. ‘tea people’). Quite an unintentionally aesthetic contrast of red and grey color born from natural chemical reaction by kiln-firing as the highlight (landscape). approx. H 23cm (9.05in), D 19cm (7.48in) http://tatami-antiques.com/items/old-tamba-mizusashi/ #tatamiantiques #japaneseantique #ceramics #pottery #vase #jar #abstract #landscape #wabi #teaceremony #impression #redandgrey #mizusashi
