There's No Place Like Home.
We are all drawn to a certain area for some reason or another. Whether family, jobs, schools, climate, you heard there was a 24 hour sushi joint going in across the street and they are the only ones who can satisfy your 2:30 AM cravings.
It's okay, you're secret is safe with me, there is no shame here.
This is a safe place.
We are covering the ten steps to buying a home. Today, we are covering step four.
These steps were all outlined in this post.
Step four: Select Where You Want to Live. Compile a list of three or four neighborhoods you’d like to live in, taking into account items such as schools, recreational facilities, area expansion plans, and safety.
Yes, it is true, this was originally step three, but I felt that moving, Start Saving up to step three, would helped formulate the big picture, ultimately...saving time. Yeah, that was terrible attempt at a pun, I'm sorry.
Where do you want to live? We are looking at Redding, California ultimately.
There are many great neighborhoods, many great streets, , thousands, and thousands of great homes.
Where will you live?
Here is where we need to draw out the dross, the refined answers if you will.
We need to know what sort of questions to ask, in order to know what answers we are looking for.
What sort of lifestyle do you live? Rural, urban, somewhere in between? Do you have children, plan on having more? Do you have hobbies?
These are examples of questions which can help answer, size and general location of a home.
Where is you time spent? Where is you family, work, church, children's activities, school, hobbies, etcetera?
Some people do not mind driving, for others, they prefer a central hub from which to live and operate. Others wish to get away from it all.
Which are you?
Are you looking for certain amenities? Do you need a gated community, high speed internet, a communtiy pool, local fishing, neighborhood watch, something on the water, or even just views of the mountains?
These are all something to keep in mind while looking. What comforts do you want in your home?
Are you established in a neighborhood and wish to stay there? Tired of a neighborhood and looking for greener pastures?
Be specific with your disires, make a list of likes and dislikes and you may discover a better understanding for what you are looking for.
What do your friends say about their neighborhoods, their houses? What have you noticed while driving around, while walking through homes? Have you started taking notice of what you like, have you notice that you have a preference, a style?
These are all questions that can help you get started in making the decision on where to live.
While most clients have clear ideas of where they do NOT want to live, sometimes where they want to live is not so clear.
This can be a big decision. Have fun with it and enjoy the process.
