I’m alive and drunk on sunlight. A laugh burst from his lips, sudden as a quail flushed from cover.

Still reading the comic Redfork and this panel made me laugh!

Oooh, I got deep into a weird comic today about an evil coal mining company that has done the citizens of this of town Redfork dirty.
One of the main characters is an ex-con who’s brother and him were caught up in a job that went wrong — he went to prison and his brother continued to be a coal miner and end up on his death bed from the poisonous toxins he had injected. Naturally, their mom is fucking pissed and dealing with a lot as her son is released and her other son is in the hospital.
It’s a trippy comic because the writer and artist team has based the story in reality but also added a devious, mystical element, by adding in another dubious character who’s looking to harvest this super lethal fucked up coal that he’s seemingly not impacted by, but knows a lot about even tho he seems to just be a criminal drifter.
It’s a strange story but I’m here for it..
Today I also read some Monte Cristo but I’m definitely jumping around a lot because my mind is a mess at the moment. Overloaded.
Anyway, the art in this comic is really well done IMHO. It’s very middle-America-misery featuring: strong lines, bloody-imagery, bright eyes and a clean layout. The paneling is multicoloured in segments, a nice addition visually. The artist is very talented.
