Swifts are birds known throughout the world for their iconic silhouettes, and ability to migrate long distances.

For many people in the uk they will be associated with sunny days of spring, where you could witness them dancing, fishing in the small clouds of flying incects waking up from our dark, rainy winters.

Sadly, the population of these swifts are massively declining and have become endangered.

Most of these swifts, live in holes made or found in brickwork.

A factor that effects their population and causes them the die,

is the destruction of their homes, as they are used for rest after their flights from africa.

In Derbysire, there's a place called the chapel milton viaduct, it was known to be the returning home of 3 families of swifts.

These nests are currently nolonger available for the exhausted returning swifts, thanks to the effort and choices of national rail.

Their are affordable, available solutions and choices that can be made to avoid the deaths of an endangered species.

National rail hold the power to amend this decision, but the story is still quite small and time is precious.

I can't imagine the deaths of an endagered species out of incompetence is a great brand image, but what do i know.

Salutation to all, we are delighted to update you of the progress we are making in line with recent electrocution of several Giraffes. The  IUCN responds to hundreds of online petition we embarked on with a deadline tomorrow 3rd March 2021-World Wildlife Day, the two petitions addressed to IUCN-Species Survival Commission.

This beautiful redwing (recognisable from other thrush species due to its pale eye stripe and red underwings) was brought into the centre after being found unable to fly. Maru, our vet, took an x-ray and found nothing untoward. Therefore, as the damage is likely to be in the soft tissue, the bird was put on a course of painkillers and anti-inflammatories and we will continue to monitor it over the next few days. We hope it will be flying free very soon!
