she isn’t entirely sure what it is about the girl that’s drawn her in so quickly. liam and ty are still earning her trust, though they’ve got a bit of her loyalty-- meanwhile, kenna has gained a fair amount of both. it’s something in her eyes, maybe. oddly enough, she trusts her. there’s an honesty about her, a strength in her that she’d like to believe she sees in herself. getting along with other women has sometimes been a challenge throughout her life, but upon meeting kenna things just seemed to slide into place. like they were missing puzzle pieces that have finally been put back together.
it’s become apparent she needs to go out, scope the area to make sure none of strand’s men are spying. most of the group is still asleep with a few keeping watch, and she doesn’t pay much mind to the approaching footsteps. not until she hears her. will you be back? fingers curl around the strap of her back pack and she stands upright, slinging it over her left shoulder as her eyes find the other woman’s. she hesitates with an answer, which is clear, but it’s only because she knows she can’t promise she will be. she has every intent to do so, but sometimes other things come up or, rather, other people show up-- or the dead do the bidding. a soft smile pulls at the corner of her mouth, and she gives a short nod, ❝ yeah. ❞ but maybe she should elaborate; she’s always had the habit of being a girl with not many words at times. ❝ -- i’m just going to take a look around, make sure everything’s okay. -- you wanna come? ❞
