I actually didn't think I'd disagree with the "popular fanon is annoying" post too much, but if you say Buck being Chris's other dad or a father figure to Chris is fanon, we really are not watching the same show.

buddie really has the funniest trope set up. They have the only one bed trope on lock, but they also have the reverse trope, too many beds readily available to them, too. Putting both of them in one fic would be juicy and hilarious, too. Buck and Eddie, who are so used to sharing a bed at home that they start squeezing themselves into a single bunk when they take naps at the station.

Bobby (ALIVE) is super conflicted about it because their performance is up a crazy amount, like 30% or something, after they started doing this, there's no rule about it, but it feels like something Bobby shouldn't be letting them do, and would be hard to explain to higher-ups.

I need more ways for established buddie to be weird about each other. I mainly read and write getting-together fics instead of established relationship because that's where the max pinning and doing unhinged shit because they can't express their feelings in a normal way is. I need the over-the-top expressions of love and devotion to continue after mutual and understood love confessions. Also, A big problem for me is that I either don't like a majority of established relationship drama tropes (like cheating) or they don't have the right amount of zest that I'm looking for.

Something to this affect has probably been said before but buck realizing that no romantic partner could possibly compete with what he has with eddie not necessarily a feelings realization. But maybe an acknowledgment that eddie already fills any role a romantic partner would in his life. Except his realization is friendship is just as if not more important than romantic love but any romantic interest of his wouldn't understand him putting eddie above or even equal to them so he stops trying. He starts leaning into eddie as his partner. But this come with i don't have to have sex with everyone i have feelings for and I don't have to have feelings for everyone i have sex with. So basically he starts getting his emotional needs met by eddie and his sexual needs filled by hookups. It's fine not great buck definitely likes relationship sex way better than hookups. But it's alright practically equivalent to a couple of relationships he's had. He doesn't see an alternative To this.

This, however, is the torment nexus for eddie. His best friend who he has recently realized he's in love with is treating him like a partner in some ways then going off to have casual sex with strangers. And everyone is concerned with the seeming return of buck 1.0.

Buck lives in the Diaz house to solve a problem that doesn't exist anymore. He thinks he's a REMINDER that there was ever a problem in the first place. Anytime it's obvious that things between eddie and chris aren't back to the way they were before buck thinks it would be better if he left.

Buck does make it about himself and Eddie wants to be mad about it but he knows where it's coming from.

He tells buck that things changed anyway and there's no pretending that they didn't with him there or not and that even if he was a reminder that he loves buck anyway. buck is never just the solution to a problem he was having he's here because eddie wants him to be here. Sure buck has a way of making even Eddie's worst days better but thats not always because buck actually did anything. He makes Eddie's every day better just by being there.

Buck doesn't recognize it as the romantic love confession that it is but it does get buck to stay.

Celebrity AU

Au idea where buck is a TV star on a show about firefighters and Eddie is still an actual firefighter. And they meet because Chris begs to audition for the show and is eventually cast as bucks characters son. They get close because eddie likes how protective buck is of chris on set. Maybe buck and chris convince eddie to be on the show first as a background actor but slowly gets more screentime as the show progresses. It would be fun to play with the on screen/ off screen dynamics. Maybe Eddie's character would be created to be buck's character's love interest and buck and Eddie themselves haven't had their feelings realizations yet. Maybe people ship their characters together sure it's because the characters are written as friends but buck and Eddie's chemistry is off the charts and so is is the character bleed. Eddie is barely playing a character to begin with.

It would also be fun to play around with their roles on the in universe show. I think it would actually funny if none of the 118 apart from buck played firefighters.

It would be very funny if bucks characters was essentially eddie and Eddie's character was buck

Part 1

I think for my celebrity au, Eddie has appeared in a cameo role in the background of mostly Buck and Chris's scenes together, and some other scenes as a background firefighter on the show as well. They keep offering him a speaking role because there's a viral clip where Eddie is supposed to be washing the ladder truck in the background while Chris and Buck talk at the station, but Eddie has stopped washing the engine to stare lovingly at Buck and Chris. (The producers of the show love stunt casting.) Eddie finally breaks down and accepts the offer of a speaking role on (name of show tbd) after being injured and out of work for six months. He's cleared for desk duty; he's not even supposed to lift anything heavier than fifteen pounds. But instead of becoming a fire marshal or LAFD dispatch liaison, he spends his time on set, even when Chris isn't there.

Buck and Eddie's characters have conflict in the episode he's introduced. Eddie's character, Ryan, has switched to A shift, and despite working at the same station for almost five years, Bucks' character, Oliver, doesn't even know his first name. he guesses Rumpelstiltskin before he guesses Ryan. Meanwhile, Ryan just casually lists off things he knows about Oliver due to his rampant oversharing and accuses Oliver of thinking he's better than everyone else. The scene where they make up, Oliver proves that he knows something about Ryan that makes him more qualified to handle a situation, and lets him take the lead.

Character and actor names are switched unless stated otherwise, ex: Buck plays Oliver

Canon relationships are still canon ex: Hen and Karen are still together and are still Denny's moms, but Hen might play love interest to someone else on the show.

I haven't decided anyone's roles besides Buck and Eddie, who are firefighters. I think Maddie isn't on the show, nor does she really pursue acting anymore. She's a famous actress turned 911 dispatcher. She wanted to be a nurse, but she was recognized too often.

Bobby and Buck are both stunt cast members for the show. They used to be on a family sitcom as father and son in the early 2000s. So their TV reunion is the stunt. Some fans interpret it as an au or continuation of their previous show. The only reason Buck is on the firefighter show is that Bobby is involved with it. Buck had a terrible experience as a child actor Maddie too. Their parents knew workarounds for nearly every child labor law. Bobby always stepped in the best he could, but it wasn't always enough.
