Rethink your choices. Refuse single use. Reduce consumption. Reuse everything. Refurbish old stuff. Repair before you replace. Repurpose: be creative, reinvent. Recycle, last option.

Do you know what the most important 'R' of the 3 R' s for the environment is? That's right! It's Reduce! What does that mean? It means the most effective way to create a positive impact in the environment is to reduce your consumption. I'm not talking eat less, I'm talking eat smarter. Eat with intention and conscience. Buy what you need. Buy items that will last. Start small by reducing the packaging you buy and bring home. What is better than recycling if even possible? Not having to recycle or throwing anything. I bought these strawberries and cherries at a local grocery store. After they weighed the fruit I put it into my bag and gave them the cardboard paper container back, which they will reuse. You will be amazed at how many less trios you have to take to the garbage can or recycling bin. More importantly you are using less energy by not having the need for packaging to be created then recycled. Talk to your grocery stores about reducing waste. Ask them for more bulk items. Ask them to encourage reusable produce bags, containers or look for suppliers that do not use any packaging. Your voice and actions are powerful, use them. #reduce #reducewaste #reduceconsumption #the3rs #packaging #reuse #conscious #consumer #groceryshopping #environment (at West End, Vancouver)
Homemade Christmas Presents - 2016
The last two Christmas seasons I have opted to make / bake presents & send to family who are in other states. I want to reduce my consumption and consider the over indulgence we all tend to experience on crap that doesn’t serve us.
The taste of food can linger in your memory for a long time & I get to contribute with the essence of what I love about Christmas, sharing a meal together. I also enjoying gifting to my small group of friends who have become my family here in Brisbane & feel lucky for the quality time. I have something to bring along when visiting, which lasts into the New Year gifting.
I never seem to make enough though. I’m working on my quantities yet the process is fun & rewarding.
