Celebrate the 4th of July with these delightful Patriotic M&M's Cookie Bars! These chewy and buttery cookie bars are studded with red, white, and blue M&M's candies, making them a festive and delicious treat for your holiday gathering.
Ingredients: 1 cup butter, melted. 1 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 egg yolk. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 cup red, white, and blue M&M's candies.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper in a 9x13-inch baking pan. Melt the butter and mix it with the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl until everything is well mixed. Mix in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a different bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones and mix them together until they are just combined. Add 3/4 cup of M&Ms to the cookie dough and mix them in. Press the cookie dough into the baking pan so that it's spread out evenly. Spread the last 1/4 cup of M&Ms candies on top of the dough and press them in gently. After the oven is hot, bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. After taking the bars out of the oven, let them cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. With the parchment paper, take the cookie slab out of the pan and set it on a wire rack to cool all the way down. When the slab is cool, cut it into squares that look like the flag and serve.
