Hey Hensa, just wanted to give a shout as a big fan of your art. Also one of those questions you probably get tired of, but... how do you get your art 'out there' and noticed? Been trying for years now and just had absolutely no luck :(
Alright, I’m gonna get into some details about how I understand getting noticed works on the platforms I use. (Tumblr and Furaffinity)
1. First and foremost, never stop pushing yourself. I know many of you will remember, I’m like a broken record with “Practice makes perfect” but it remains true. Your skill level and personal style will often (But not always!) determine how much attention you get.
2. Know your audience. Its no secret that many of the people on FA go there for the porn. I’m not saying you have to draw smut, but if you’re looking to gain a large following there, uploading something with sex appeal is probably your best bet. (There are exceptions, but in my experience they are few and far between). Tumblr, on the other hand LOVES fan art. In fact, if I hadn’t ventured into some pony art at my start here, I probably wouldn’t find myself where I am today. Even if pony art isn’t your thing, there’s tons of themes and shows trending on Tumblr with large followings (Steven Universe, Homestuck, and even Mystery Skulls and Game Grumps etc.) and you’d be totally surprised at how many people stick around to enjoy your personal art as well. (Tag the living heck out of your pieces as well!)
3. Draw often, post often. At the very least, one thing per week. Dont let people forget that you’re alive and drawing amazing things!and lastly!~
4. Interact positively. Undoubtedly, you will become SOMEONES art senpai! Always let your following know you appreciate them and thank them for being the awesome support that they are.
This is all just in my experience, and not everyone’s journey is the same. Theres no magic formula for this kind of stuff, but I hope this helps you in some way! and PS. I know that getting attention for your art is really encouraging, but ALWAYS REMEMBER, what matters most is that YOU love your art.
