Check out the full jam on my YouTube channel! Phew, that’s it for Jamuary 2020! As with the previous 2 years, I was looking forward to it, but I’m happy now that it’s over. For most people #jamuary is a reason to step out of ‘production’ mode, and just experiment / improvise / jam. For me it’s (been) the other way around: with @slenterendebeer, improvisation is the basis of what we do, so with Jamuary I like to focus more time on sound design and composition. This means that I tend to spend more time on my jams than what I assume others do. (I don’t know, please tell me. Now I’m curious.) Typically I spent 2-5 hours per day on making these jams, and then recording, editing and sharing them. I have a full-time job, so that meant I didn’t get to sleep as much as I usually do. However, I am very happy with the results of this month. I have experimented with new ways of working, out of which the @weareelektron #digitakt has been an essential tool, I’ve completely fallen in love with it. And of course the Prophet has become a central element to my jams as well, it has allowed me to dive deep into #sounddesign, and its presets and features have inspired me. In the coming time I will be looking into whether I can bundle some of these tracks and release them. When I do, I’ll share it here of course.
