So when I started at the job I currently work at, there was significantly less for me to do, so I had time to do pen sketches. I usually finished about 1 a week, and these are some of the referenced drawings I did! I am definitely far too busy to keep this up now, but I enjoyed this time while I had it!

Tac's OC Ref Masterpost!

Heya everybody! I'm not sure where the thought for this came from but I wanted to make a post that just has all of my OCs' refs in it in case anyone ever needs to find them and doesn't wanna ask me for them (which ur always welcome to do btw!) or doesn't wanna go digging through their Toyhouse galleries. This will be linked in my pinned post as well, so if you ever need to find it again, it'll be there! Every character will have their Toyhouse page linked below their ref, so you'll have easy access to more in-depth info and more gallery images if needed!

All the refs are below the read more since this is going to be a really long post, so be prepared for that if you take a look lol. It's organized the same way as my Toyhouse, with sonas first, then primary, secondary and tertiary OCs (basically categorized by how much I use them and how much development they have). I'll put a little bit of information about each character and whenever I make a new ref for a character, I'll swap out the old version with the new one here!

how to dynamic pose

listen guys--- everyone gets mega pissed when people trace or when it looks like someone traced. here’s the thing. when you’re l e a r n i n g how to draw;;; PLEASE TRACE,,, and by trace I DO NOT mean trace, colour it in and the claim it as your own. I mean THIS:

ANCHOR POINTS- no one can draw a good dynamic action pose without anchor points or at least without understanding them previously. The PINCH. Hips and shoulders are very rarely in the human body going to be parallel or perfectly straight and even. 99.9% of the time, there is this little PINCH POINT where the shoulder line and the hip line cross or meet. This point will help you SO MUCH when it comes to creating dynamics and the appearance of flowing movements. NOTICE HOW EVEN THE HEAD AND THE RAISED FOOT ARE A PART OF THE ANCHOR!!! This is mega important ! ! !

Both of the feet, the head positioning, and the shoulder/hip combo are all attached to this little invisible point and most of the time people approach figure drawing with shapes and form. That’s all well and good but you must understand that this anchor point creates a pose. It pulls everything together. Literally.

Now this sketch pose I did is very cleaned up and nice (it originally was a mess but I decided to clean it up to post) but normally just getting the ROUGH idea of the pose and the anchor point are all you need to create a really dynamic pose. Make mistakes. Feel it out. Art isn’t that hard if you understand the basics, but you need to practice.
