A lot of people talk about how Reflection from Mulan has trans and generally queer vibes. Which it does. But I also think it has a lot of neurodivergent vibes. Especially with high masking people. Just the idea that you have to play a part you weren't made for and fail at it and that no one would like you if you were to be yourself is very familiar for a former weird kid (now weird adult lol).

Ok so I just read a thing saying if disney wasn't a 'childrens' company or whatever Mulan would basically be transgender. Ok so in a way I kinda get that but I feel like that's reaching for something that isn't there. When she sings the reflection song it's about her not wanting to be a 'proper/ fancy' girl she wanted to be herself, who liked to run around and just live her life without worrying about marrying someone or shaming her family. When she went of to the army or whatever you want to call it, she kinda didn't enjoy being a man. I'm not hating on transgender people or others opinion I just wanted to say what makes more sense to me.

Mulan...a personal thing..

Soo i'm watching Mulan for the billionth time its just my absolute favourite disney film and its taken me til now to realise just how much it reminds me of myself and how i feel about being Transgender... I'm not saying the whole film is based around it but i will say some parts of the film truly do show how i feel daily...seems to make more sense why it's my favourite film i guess!! :D
