Personal Reflection Time

Hey y'all,

This has been such an interesting season - to say the least!

I've found myself reflecting more, lately. There are many areas in my life that I have learned I need to work at and submit to God. It could be daunting but I've been understanding the importance of doing a little every day - one step closer - one small change daily.

John MacArthur said, the proof of your salvation is not the perfection of your life but the direction. I believe that wholeheartedly and it has really changed my perspective on many things and struggles I encounter.

Am I the woman I want to be? Not yet. But I believe that with the Lord's help I will grow in the fruit of the Spirit, I will learn more about the Word while storing it all in my heart, I will continue to submit to God and pursue Him!

It's a journey, a marathon. One step closer is still one step closer.

I'm thankful for God's lovingkindness, it really leaves me speechless.

Confusion are you out there?

So recently I've got this comment under one of my fics (a requested historical Jonerys AU) especially after the very unpleasant run in with some nasty Daenerys stans yesterday and just...

So yeah, Confusion is confused (color me surprised), besides why don't you use your account, my friend? it'd make things much more easier and less laughable, like really anonymous?

So yeah, again. All the points stand.

I am not the one saying Daenerys is a mass-murderer canon does (both book!canon with the sack of Astapor and the show!canon with the burning of KL).

There is a difference between hate and not especially like a character (learn that difference), or liking her less than others. I am intrigued by Daenerys as the multifaceted character she is, with traits that are good (she is feminist and she's ambitious, good for her; she also has some good ideals although they are a bit twisted around but I digress. Wanting to end slavery per se is good, the way she goes about it and the way she behaves not so much) and traits that aren't good at all, just plain bad and it is my prerogative to say that.

I am not an exclusive JonSa shipper, although they may be my fav ship, the nickname "JonSa turkey" actually comes from the hate of a Dany stan under one of my fics and it does not mean I ship only JonSa.

I can very well write as many fic with Dany as I want, it's all for fun, and you aren't obliged to read them or to come under them and comment. In each of them I can write her in a different manner, as all my characters change for each fic. That is my prerogative as well, and it's yours to not read them or express your opinion politely.

Confusion, if you are out there batti un colpo ("give us a sign"). I'd really like to know what gave you the impression I wish a character to be burned at the stake (whoever said that? Not me certainly) or killed in any other gruesome way. I mean I am the first one that says that the way they killed her off didn't sit right with me even if it made sense for the time of the contest and characters involved.

Hell, I even defend Dany sometimes or at least try to put under better scrutiny her actions while giving her some degree of justification for some because of her young age and upbringing.

So yeah, I do not care about Daenerys but I do care about this thing called respect. I have not in any form or way ever said this character or that one deserved death and I'd very much appreciate if you stopped claiming as such. I dare you, again, to go find a post of my making in which I wish any character, Dany included, death or any ill.

That's not just how I roll.

And believe me, I've had this conversation many times with other Daenerys defenders, and I say this again. I may be against her on the Iron throne, believe she doesn't deserve it and that she will have a dark twist and that's my prerogative but I never said she should've burned at the stake or been gruesomely killed or should have killed herself.

On that very same matter, have you ever seen me under a Daenerys positivity post or defense post commenting on how she is a villain, should be killed or not even take the Iron throne? I think not. Go search the entirety of the posts pro-Daenerys if you will. You shan't find a single bad or opposed comment. Or disrespectful for that matter.

I may say my opinion under asks in which she's defended but I'm never either disrespecting of the person who wrote them or of the opinion itself.

Wanna know why? I don't like it? I don't read it. I think I may like it? I don't? Too bad, not gonna come here and wreak havoc or point out my idea disrespectfully.

My idea is as worthy as yours.

My theory as worthy as yours.

Because until we get the books, all interpretations of it may stand. And if we do not? The only canon we have is the show.

And, believe me, if the tags are not anti-Daenerys you aren’t getting it from me in that particular fic. I proved time after time I am coherent to the point I’ve signaled my self to ao3 when none of Dany stans had the balls to do it, to prove that not only the way I tag is correct but that it was so all along.

Only word of advice, next time you try and call out someone about their behavior or opinions do make sure you have your facts straight or you're going to appear dumb and I am sure that's not the case.

Post-birthday reflections and plans for the new year

    2020 is ending in a few hours for me so I’ve decided to write a little reflection post just like last year. This year was supposed to be “The Year” when I get my anxiety to remain silent and write more pop culture practices related stuff. But both you and I know roaring ‘20 turned into whiny ‘20 and wasn’t a good year for any of us. For me it was year of constantly overcoming myself, be it through family, mental health or thesis work related issues. 

     Besides surviving, I managed to get my B.E. degree in applied geology this July, an achievement I was doubting often. It troubled me so much I considered giving up. Only Highlord and my SO know how big this was for me and without help of either of them I’m not sure if I had enough courage to be able to ask my thesis supervisors for help.

    I also consider myself to be spirit spoused in this year. It might be surprising to some, but it wasn’t my idea - the offer came from one of entities I work with that I at some point finally considered. It sure feels weird to be such a spouse, especially when we talk about pop culture entity and how similar it initially looks to waifuism (which I find okay, as long as the character is an adult being that is able to consciously consent). Initial uncertainties aside, it seems to allow me to deepen my understanding of facets of this particular entity. I promise to write on this topic when I’ll get longer break from university and get to interview few pop culture practitioners who also are spirit/god spoused.

    I’ve definitely slowed down with my practice. What I mean by that is, comparing to previous year, I haven’t done much of complex spellwork. One could consider it a result of laziness, but having in mind how downright crazy this year was, I am not going to beat myself with punishment stick for not being in headspace for writing complex lore oriented spells, wards and curses. But by no means this was a dry year for my practice - I’ve managed to get more interesting and better quality books on magic in it’s different flavors. From my personal favourites I got so far I can surely name “Magic by Design” by Taylor Ellwood, “Psychic Witch” by Mat Auryn and “Grovedaughter witchery” by Bree Nicgarran, which I hope to include in my reviews and sources on more magic oriented discussions of the pop culture.

    But this year also was time for observing people and what I’ve noticed worried me. Current pandemic confirmed certain problematic mindset that is getting more and more popular - that a lot of people chose to become closed minded and follow paths of misinformation, conspiracy theories and anti-science dogmas. People like to exclude those who don’t share their unhealthy views and choose personal comfort over having consideration for someone else than themselves. Unfortunately this issue got quite strong in the spiritual community. Instead of basic human decency they show self-centered mentality cloaked into concepts like “personal freedom”, “raising vibrations” or “doing your own research”. One could say that history repeats itself and I don’t freaking like this.

    I do have plans for this blog in the upcoming year. Definitely I want to be more active when my time allows it, but preferably in weekly format (my quality of writing plummets when having bad day or when being sick and I can see when). I’ve decided to make some general list of topics you may expect from this blog in 2021:

* Tidbits of information on my Lore of Choice;

* Application of those tidbits in magical practice;

* Spellwork and recipes based on in-game abilities and objects;

* Pop culture recipes, both from the lore and other media I know;

* General pop culture practices posts and tips;

* Maybe one post on spirit/god spousing from pop culture practitioners perspective;

* Maybe more personal posts;

* Maybe one or two posts on book reviews.
