The photo that shocked the world.
This photo was released in early September 2015 of a three year old boy identified as Aylan Kurdi washed up on a Greek Island. Aylan’s older brother and their mother met a similar death along with 9 other Syrians who were escaping the war stricken country.
The picture, taken on a Wednesday morning, depicted the dark-haired toddler, wearing a bright-red T-shirt and shorts, washed up on a beach, lying face down in the surf not far from Turkey’s fashionable resort town of Bodrum. I remember this image being on the front of newspaper for days, it really did shock the world, unfortunately this is what it took for our Prime Minister to take action and for other countries to accept this was a growing issue that needed help as soon as possible.
