disclaimer: these are my interpretations of these characters in a fantasy world in which regression is normalized but not forced, and people are still ashamed of it. this is not biological agere, though i have my own ideas about that. it’s just kind of a societally acceptable thing, at least to most communities. (and yes my dms are always open!)
disclaimer 2: some characters personality traits i am altering slightly due to me simply not having the bandwidth to deal with characters this complex. are the versions i write 100% good? no. but for example, i don’t write trinity as a bully, when she canonically is one. i am similarly not writing robby allowing that bullying to happen, and to me trinity just needs some reminders, but she is not mean out of malice like she is in the show. please do not engage with this blog if you 1) want them written 10000% canon as well as 2) not being 100% good people who make mistakes including thoughts and actions around regression, which i have explained the world building for above.

regressor, ranging from ~3 to 14, with a (future) average of ~6 to 8. he is very, very ashamed of his regression due to his upbringing and hasn’t tried it after his first and only time when he was about 26. he avoids anything and everything to do with regression (difficult to do when it’s a normalized part of society, especially in places like an ED in which things commonly happen like involuntarily regressing due to trauma) and sometimes his own biases about regression (stemming from shame and trauma) are expressed through his demeanor around patients and coworkers alike, which isn’t great for him. (in the future) his main cg would be jack, with dana being able to cover as a backup. collins once, too, as a mistaken dial when he was early into re-exploring his regression with jack. she’s sworn to secrecy, partially because robby got so upset that jack had to come over and supervise him to make sure he didn’t try and hurt himself.

flip! regresses from 7/8 to 14, but is mostly a cg and babysitter. due to actually being in therapy (cough cough robby) for 15+ years, he doesn’t need to regress nearly as often as he did, let alone at all for sometimes months as a time. the early days of re-discovering his regression after the army (you can’t regress in the desert) and his discharge from his leg were pretty ugly, but robby kept him afloat. never acting as a caregiver, even jack at his worst was independent, just like he was as a real kiddo, but an anchor. a stable port in the storms of his mind, at the time. now, he regresses for fun, or to be a big brother to any of the pittlings, and very very very occasionally, to robby. he is the fun uncle, thank you very much. dana thinks he’s a bad influence on emma, who started asking to go to monster jam the moment she saw videos on jacks phone he showed her from when he went with his army buddies a few years ago.

flip! stays around 13 to 15 as a big sister, and is a babysitter the rest of the time. especially funny when dennis is trying to be a big brother to emma or mel and then metaphorically crumbles when his big sissy asks for anything

cg! her main cg duties are for her baby emma, but she also fills in for jack if needed, and is otherwise the fun aunt. known for always having spare crayons, an unopened paci, and a small blanket in her bag for any emergencies. has really bonded to regressed!dennis, who’s now her de facto hardworking little man who can help her find crayons someone dropped or chopping up the fruit for his little sissy ems :)!

regressor! the stressed kiddo ever. hovers around 9 but a very upset 9 so it’s more like 5. very sensitive to Loud, so her and trinity don’t get along when regressed. she usually hangs out with cassie, or she relaxes alone in her room watching beauty youtubers and slime videos to turn her brain down

regressor! he ranges from 5 to 12. though he knows what regression is, he didn’t realize what he was doing and how he was feeling (pre-rehab) was him regressing while going through withdrawal, a bad pain day, or anything in-between. post-rehab where canon lives, he usually sits around 8 or 9. he’s usually causing mischief (giving jack even more grey hairs) and sometimes needs to be reminded about boundaries and volume control, but he isn’t a bad boy. loves hanging out with trinity and dennis! he’s dennis’ younger brother so of course he annoys him CONSTANTLY. he’s scared of trinity though

the regressor ever. she feels a lot of stress due to (presumably? undiagnosed autism? i know it’s semi-canon but this is me playing with my touys) how unregulated she is, and a lot of her regression starts with a meltdown or shutdown :(. she ranges from 5 to 9, usually staying around 5 or 6. she’s a pretty anxious regressor (not as bad as robby, though who is) and she sticks with her routine when she’s alone (sensory light lamp time, and then transformers coloring pages, and then white cheddar cheese puff snacks, and then mickey mouse clubhouse on her couch with her purple blanket and white paci until she falls asleep, with lizzo or zara wilson playing in her black over-ear headphones). she usually doesn’t need or want a cg, but when she’s around them, she gravitates towards jack. he knows that’s she’s pretty independent and that her routine is rigid, so he just checks in with her occasionally while she colors away, listening to her music

regressor! ranges from 5 to 13, usually staying around 10 or 11. she has learned over the course of her regression that it’s worse for her to try and be ‘good’ and force herself down (#undiagnosed adhd truther), so she’s the loudest and boldest out of the pittlings. when she’s regressed she needs reminders about her volume control and word choice, but jack makes sure she knows she isn’t mean for not thinking before speaking because he knows that’s hard for her, but that her words can hurt unintentionally and she needs to say sorry. almost has a twin like relationship with dennis since they usually stay around the same age!!! the terror twins except it’s mostly trin hoarding red crayons and dennis running around the house trying to give all of them back like metaphorical whack-a-mole. not emma though!! no teasing the baby. she loves helping emma color and cut stuff (especially for her gift to dana) and being the best big sister ever!!!!

regressor!!! usually sticks to 7 or 8, too scared to try anything than what she first felt drawn to. her regression is born from a place of anxiety due to how overbearing her mother is and how she’s treated like a child when she isn’t, she isn’t!!!!! and she is not very upbeat or happy when regressed. she’s usually cuddled into cassie or jacks sides, snuggled in her favorite purple blanket and watching her favorite movie (cinderella) while cassie/jack whispers to her that she isn’t weak for wanting to regress and that this isn’t proving her mother right, it’s her brain saying i really needed this and i feel safe enough with you to let go, thank you for sharing this with me

regressor! can range from 4 to 15, and usually hovers between 8 and 10. usually the big brother to younger regressors like emma, mel, or victoria. he loves being a helper around the house for anyone!!!! emma needs her colored pencil sharpened and she’s too tiny to handle sharp things?? denny to the rescue!! or if jack spills a bit of water and he can’t bend to clean it because of his leg? helper dennis!!! terror twin with trin except trin is making this boy and his younger brother frank work overtime #mygirldidnothingwrong

cg!!! ugh she seems so solid and comforting. she cares for anyone at work who drops unexpectedly (including the pittlings), with mel being her sleeper favorite since parker also loves transformers and she let mel infodump to her once and mel clings ever since. she loves it

cg! nobody would have known, but when jack was having a bad shift he regressed to 6 (which he had never done at wok before) and he was freaking out (very uncharacteristic for regressed him) and emery found him hiding in a storage closet and coaxed him out and made sure he was safe and secure in the break room (i agree with the popular hc that she’s a veteran as well) so she understood that he wanted to be left alone and that was fine. i also think she has a really big soft spot for robby. in my ‘verse i like to think that she didn’t even know he was a regressor let alone that young of one since his actions weren’t the best and she got so so sad when she realized that robby was a little and she didn’t even recognize it, let alone be there for a him a little and how it was born from such deep deep shame and fear stemming from his childhood
i loved finding the pics for this… i love their dynamic in my mind palace :3! puppy trin on a hike with garcia and she’s fighting for her LIFE making sure trin stays in her eyeline and doesn’t hike too far while trin is like ^_^ yayyy hiking with mama and i get to climb stuff!!!! also trin trinket collector is canon to ME. she has adhd so bad guys
