Talk about bad blood! As intriguing as they look, there is more to the regal horned lizard (Phrynosoma solare) than its majestic appearance: when threatened, this reptile will squirt blood from its eyes, aiming it at a predator’s face (don’t Google while eating). It’s thought that the unpleasant taste of its blood, which contains an unpleasant chemical, may discourage predators from feasting on the lizard. In its desert home, this critter feeds mostly on harvester ants, eating as many as 2,500 in one meal. This tasty snack also provides regal horned lizards with the moisture they need to survive in their dry habitat.

and a vent piece about leaving spaces that mistreat you, no matter how many years you've been there, and how much you want to give the ones who don't defend you the benefit of the doubt. If there's any good folks in there, they can find you elsewhere, or make the space safe enough to deserve you. Don't stand in toxic sludge for them, even if you'll miss them. They allow that sludge to be there. Go watch a Bob Ross tutorial and miss him instead. Can also recommend learning how to shoot blood from your eyes to intimidate bullies like this delightful animal.
