Hello, do you have a favorite north American lizarb?
I am a big fan of Phrynosoma! I have only ever seen one in the wild, a tiny juvenile, but I'm a great appreciator of their remarkable anatomy and blood-squirting eyeballs.

A horned lizard (Phrynosoma sp.) from my hike last week. One of their defense mechanisms is shooting blood from their eyes. (Source in the second to last sentence here in case you don’t believe me or Wikipedia.)

Hiding! 😎 When I got too close, this little guy puffed up, exposing more of that beautiful orange and sticking out those pointy scales. It was certainly a bit intimidating!
