whilhe first few nights after Jungkook’s threat felt unbearable and you hated yourself for it. Not because you missed him, but because your body still remembered him in ways that made your skin prickle with unwanted heat.
Every creak in the hallway outside the apartment tightened your chest. Every unknown notification sent unease crawling beneath your skin like invisible fingers. Even stepping out of work now became pretty difficult.
Your eyes would unconsciously scan crowded streets, searching for a black hoodie or a familiar tattooed hand before your brain could catch up and scold you for it.
You kept expecting him to appear suddenly. Another confrontation. Another wave of chaos.
Although you couldn't avoid him completely. He was everywhere. Ad campaigns, posters around your neighborhood, social media feeds... all of them seemed to be filled with Jungkook and the other members.
They really had gotten big and, to be honest, they had worked hard for it.
But besides that, nothing happened.
No breakfast waiting for you in the morning. No late-night messages lighting up your phone anymore. Absolutely no sign of Jungkook at all.
Days slipped by in careful silence. Then they turned into weeks, and slowly, almost reluctantly, your body stopped bracing for impact. The constant knot of fear in your stomach began to loosen...thread by thread..until you could finally draw a full breath again without it catching.
Jongin noticed before you even realized it yourself. He was very attentive to you.
“You slept through the night yesterday,” he said one morning, adjusting the cuffs of his crisp shirt near the kitchen island.
You looked up from your coffee...blinking. “Hm?” not understanding the depth of the statement.
“No nightmares.” A faint..warm smile touched his lips. “That’s progress, angel.”
Your chest tightened with a soft..complicated ache. Jongin never pushed...he never pried into the darker corners of your anxiety or demanded explanations whenever the shadow of Jungkook resurfaced. He simply stayed. Steady and patient, like someone holding an umbrella over you in the middle of a storm without ever asking for thanks.
It made guilt bloom painfully inside your chest sometimes. Because despite everything Jungkook had done -the hurt...the humiliation, the anger that still simmered - there were still quiet moments when your heart betrayed you by remembering him almost fondly. Jongin deserved so much better than the divided ruins you sometimes brought between you both....in your home.
────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────
That evening arrived softer than most. City lights glowed gently against the tall windows while the savory scent of takeout filled the living room. Jongin had come home unusually early, arms full of food bags and your favorite snacks, even though exhaustion lingered beneath his eyes.
“Movie night?” you asked, watching him loosen his tie with tired fingers.
He nodded, offering a small smile. “Mm. Figured my fiancée looked like she could use one.”
You smiled despite yourself. “really? Is it that obvious?”
“Baby,” he chuckled quietly, “you threatened a barista yesterday because he almost gave you oat milk instead of almond.”
“i specially told him two times that I want almond milk,” you shot back lightly.
Jongin’s laugh was low and genuine as he tossed you the oversized hoodie you were always stealing from him and he himself changed into comfortable clothes. “ yes I heard it too baby now Come here.”
The warmth of domesticity settled over you both naturally after that. Simple...precious things. The television humming softly in the background. Your legs tangled together beneath a shared blanket. Jongin’s fingers brushing absentmindedly along your arm while he scrolled through movie options. His hand resting warm and possessive on your thigh, like it was the most natural place in the world.
Real peace.
You hadn’t realized how desperately you had missed silence until it finally returned.
Halfway through the film, your head found its way to his chest. His fingers played lazily with your hair, soothing and rhythmic. Your eyes drifted shut for a moment...body melting into him.
“Sleepy?” he murmured above you, voice a low, comforting rumble.
“mmhh.”
“We can go to bed if you want.”
But instead of answering right away, you whispered, “It’s quiet..gin..”
Jongin’s fingers paused in your hair. He understood exactly what you meant. No fear hovering at the edges...no threats lurking...no Jungkook waiting around corners.
Just this....warmth...safety...stillness.
His lips pressed tenderly to the crown of your head. “Yeah,” he whispered back. “It is.”
Something deep inside your chest loosened, almost painfully sweet. You tilted your head up to look at him. Jongin looked tired...hair slightly messy now, yet his eyes still softened every single time they found yours. Like loving you was the easiest most natural thing he had ever done.
Your fingers rose to brush gently along his jaw. “What?” he asked, smiling faintly.
“Nothing.” But it wasn’t nothing. It was the quiet realization that somewhere along the way you had stopped waiting for chaos every time someone chose to love you.
Jongin caught the shift in your expression immediately. His thumb traced slow circles against your hip beneath the blanket. “Hey,” he said gently, voice lowering. “what you're thinking now?”
You held his gaze for a few heartbeats, then leaned in without verbally answering him and kissed him first. Softly...bonestly.
Jongin froze for the briefest second before kissing you back..one hand sliding to your waist while the other cupped your cheek with careful touch....slow and patient. Always giving you room to pull away if you needed it.
You kissed him again...deeper this time and something warm and alive unfurled in your chest as he pulled you closer. No desperation. No need to prove anything. Just affection..real and grounding.
You drew back slightly..foreheads resting together..breaths mingling. He searched your face carefully.
“You sure?” he asked..voice husky but steady.
The sincerity in his tone nearly undid you. You nodded...fingers threading into his hair. “I want this. I want you...Jongin.”
His eyes reflected with desire..warm and hungry. “Then come here, baby.”
He kissed you again, slower and more intentional this time...his hand slipping beneath the hoodie to trace warm paths along your skin. The movie faded into meaningless noise as warmth replaced every last piece of tension in your body. For the first time in weeks..you felt safe enough to let your walls fall completely.
You tugged at the hem of the hoodie and Jongin helped you pull it off...his gaze drinking in every inch of newly exposed skin with open yearning. His palms cupped your breasts tenderly...thumbs brushing over your nipples until they tightened beneath his touch. You gasped softly into his mouth as he rolled one sensitive peak between his fingers then the other..sending sparks straight down to your core.
“Is this okay?” he whispered against your lips, voice husky. “Tell me if you want it softer or harder, angel.”
“Harder,” you breathed, arching into his hands. “I want to feel you.”
Jongin groaned softly and lowered his head..taking one nipple into his mouth. His tongue swirled around the sensitive bud while his fingers continued playing with the other sucking and licking until you were whimpering, hips grinding down against the growing hardness in his lap. The pleasure was slow-building..deep..and full of affection. Every touch felt like worship.
He eventually shifted you onto your back..kissing down your stomach with lingering reverence. When he reached the waistband of your shorts, he looked up, eyes dark but gentle. “Can I taste you?”
You nodded quickly..lifting your hips to help him slide the fabric down. Jongin settled between your thighs, pressing soft kisses along the inside of each one before his mouth finally found your center. His tongue licked a slow, broad stripe through your folds..savoring you and you moaned..fingers threading into his hair.
“Fuck… you’re so wet already,” he murmured..voice vibrating against you. He took his time alternating between gentle sucks on your clit and dipping his tongue inside you. Two of his fingers joined soon after sliding into your heat with ease and curling just right. He pumped them slowly while his mouth focused on your clit, building the pressure with patient skill.
You rocked against his face lost in the wet heat and the way he hummed in pleasure at your taste. “gin-ie… oh god, that feels so good.”
He glanced up at you lips glistening. “Yeah? You like my mouth on you like this?” When you moaned in response..he doubled his efforts, sucking gently on your clit until your thighs began to shake. Your first orgasm hit you in deep...rolling waves. You cried out his name..back arching as pleasure flooded every nerve.
Jongin stayed with you through it..gentling his movements until you came down then kissed his way back up your body. You pulled him into a deep kiss..tasting yourself on his tongue and reached down to palm his straining cock through his pants.
“I want you inside me,” you whispered..stroking him firmly. “please.”
He let out a low groan. “protection?”
You nodded. He quickly retrieved one from his wallet on the coffee table..rolling it on under your heated gaze. You pushed him back against the cushions and straddled him again...taking his thick length in your hand and guiding the head to your entrance.
“Slow at first?” he asked...hands resting on your hips, letting you set the pace.
“Yes,” you breathed..sinking down onto him inch by inch. The stretch was perfect full and delicious. When he bottomed out inside you...you both stilled..foreheads pressed together..breathing each other in.
“Fuck, baby… you feel incredible,” he groaned eyes locked on yours. “So tight and warm around me.”
You began to ride him slowly..rolling your hips in deep circles. Jongin’s hands guided you gently..thumbs stroking your skin as he thrust up to meet you. The rhythm was unhurried and passionate..filled with yearning. He sat up slightly to kiss you, tongues tangling as your bodies moved together in perfect sync. His mouth moved to your neck...then your breasts..sucking and licking while you rode him harder.
After several minutes..your thighs started to burn. Jongin noticed immediately.
“Tired, angel?” he asked softly...brushing damp hair from your face. “Want me to take over?”
You nodded...breathing heavily. In one smooth motion..he flipped you onto your back on the sofa..settling between your thighs without pulling out. He kissed you deeply as he began thrusting...slow, powerful strokes that hit every perfect spot inside you.
“Like this?” he murmured against your lips.
“Yes… just like that. Don’t stop.”
He kept the pace steady and deep..one hand slipping between you to circle your clit while the other braced beside your head. The pleasure built again..stronger this time...coiling tight in your belly. You wrapped your legs around his waist..pulling him impossibly deeper.
“I’m close,” you gasped.
“Come for me, baby,” he whispered, voice strained with his own pleasure. “Let me feel you.”
Your second orgasm crashed over you softer but longer pulsing around him as you moaned his name. Jongin followed right after burying himself deep with a low...broken groan..hips stuttering as he came inside the condom.
For a long moment...you stayed connected..breathing hard against each other. Jongin kissed you tenderly, over and over...your lips..your cheeks..your forehead...whispering soft words between each one.
“I love you,” he said quietly voice full of emotion. “So much. Being with you like this… it’s everything.”
You cupped his face heart full. “I love you too. Thank you for making me feel safe… for making me feel wanted.”
He smiled softly and pulled out carefully, disposing of the condom before gathering you into his arms. You curled against his chest under the blanket..skin warm and satisfied..listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
The peace wrapped around you like a cocoon.
Then his phone vibrated sharply on the coffee table. Once. Twice. Jongin sighed...glancing over with obvious reluctance. When it rang a third time..he reached for it..jaw tightening slightly.
“Work?” you asked softly...already sensing the subtle shift in the air.
“Yeah… one of the investors again.” He kissed your forehead...lingering for a moment. “I’ll make it quick. Stay right here...baby. Don’t go anywhere.”
As he slipped out from under the blanket and stepped onto the balcony, voice low and controlled in the night air...you curled deeper into the warmth he’d left behind. The afterglow still lingered… but something colder now brushed against the edges...whispering that this fragile peace might not last much longer.

The next few days settled into a deceptively gentle rhythm but small cracks had already begun to form beneath the surface.
You woke the morning after that tender night on the couch to the soft clink of dishes in the kitchen. Sunlight filtered through the curtains in pale gold strips and for a moment everything felt right. Jongin was already up moving around with his usual quiet efficiency. You padded out in his hoodie hair still messy and wrapped your arms around him from behind as he poured coffee.
“Morning,” you murmured...pressing a kiss between his shoulder blades.
He turned in your arms and kissed your forehead but the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes the way it usually did. “Morning, angel. Sleep well?”
You nodded studying his face. There were faint shadows beneath his eyes that hadn’t been there before. “what about You?”
“Me too darling.” He handed you your mug the one with the tiny chip on the handle that he always saved for you. “I have an early call with Tokyo. Might run long.” that was the first crack.
Another after that the calls became more frequent as the days passed. Jongin would disappear into his home office for hours voice low and measured through the door. You tried not to hover because you knew his world demanded this kind of pressure sometimes. Still, you noticed how his hand would linger on your waist a second shorter than usual when he passed by. How his laughter during dinner felt a little too quick like he was forcing it just for your sake.
On the third evening he canceled dinner.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he said over the phone voice tight with frustration. You were already dressed standing in the hallway with the reservation confirmation glowing on your screen. “One of the investors pulled out last minute. I need to fix this before it gets messy. Rain check?”
“Of course baby,” you replied swallowing the small sting. “Handle what you need to and make sure to eat something.”
When he finally came home well past ten he looked exhausted. Tie loosened jacket slung over one arm. He found you curled on the couch with a book and immediately pulled you into his lap burying his face in your neck.
“I hate doing this to you,” he murmured against your skin. His arms tightened around your waist strong and grounding. “This deal... it’s more complicated than I expected.”
You ran your fingers through his hair, trying to soothe the tension radiating from him. “It’s okay. I understand. Just... talk to me if it gets too heavy?”
He nodded but his eyes were already drifting toward his phone when it lit up again on the coffee table.
The real crack came two days later.
You were in the living room sorting through some work emails when you overheard him on the balcony. His voice usually so calm and controlled had sharpened.
“No, that’s not acceptable. We had a verbal agreement last week. If your team can’t deliver on time, then tell them to-” He stopped abruptly exhaling. “...I’m sorry. That was out of line. I know you’re doing your best. Just... get me the updated figures by tonight. Please.”
You watched through the glass door as he rubbed his temple, shoulders tense. When he stepped back inside he caught you looking and offered a tired smile.
“Everything alright?” you asked softly setting your laptop aside.
Jongin sank onto the couch beside you pulling you close. His hand found yours automatically thumb stroking over your knuckles. “Just business pressure. One of the junior executive dropped the ball on some projections and it’s rippling everywhere. Nothing I can’t handle tho.”
You searched his face heart squeezing. He looked so human in that moment..tired a little frayed at the edges but still trying so hard to shield you from it. “You snapped at him.”
He winced slightly. “Yeah. I apologized right after. Doesn’t make it right though.” He leaned in and kissed you gently lingering like he needed the contact to steady himself. “I’m sorry if I’ve been distant lately. This won’t last forever. I promise.”
You nodded curling into his chest. His heartbeat was steady beneath your ear but you could feel the subtle strain in the way he held you. Not panicked. Not yet. Just... worried. The kind of quiet worry that sat low in your stomach and refused to leave.
Later that night, after he had fallen asleep with his arm draped heavily over your waist, you lay awake staring at the ceiling. The apartment was quiet again, but it no longer felt as safe as it had a week ago. Jongin's phone had buzzed three times during dinner. He had silenced it each time without comment but you hadn't missed the tension that appeared in his jaw afterward.
You shifted carefully beneath the blankets and looked over at him.
Even asleep, he looked tired..his brows were slightly furrowed. One hand remained loosely curled against your hip as though some part of him needed to make sure you were still there.
Your chest tightened.
For weeks now he had been carrying something heavier than he wanted to admit.
And every time you asked, he gave you the same answer.
Just work...and Maybe he was right because companies hit rough patches all the time, Investors changes their minds, Deals fell through, People made mistakes..none of it was unusual.
Yet watching him slowly wear himself down trying to hold everything together left an uneasy feeling sitting low in your stomach.
You reached over and brushed a strand of hair away from his forehead. Jongin stirred slightly but didn't wake. A faint smile touched your lips.
"You're allowed to lean on me too, you know," you whispered.
The words disappeared into the darkness.
Outside, the city continued glowing beyond the windows.
Inside..sleep refused to come.
And somewhere beyond your reach, the first domino had already fallen...You just didn't know it yet.
────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────────۶ৎ────
The bookstore had become one of your favorite places since moving here.
It wasn't particularly grand or famous. In fact, most people probably walked right past it without giving it a second glance. But you loved it. The soft smell of coffee that lingered between the shelves. The quiet rustle of pages turning. The gentle music playing somewhere overhead. Nobody knew who you were here. Nobody looked at you with pity. Nobody remembered the girl who once cried herself to sleep over Jeon Jungkook.
That Saturday afternoon with Jongin trapped in yet another meeting..you found yourself wandering through the fiction section without any real purpose.
You were reaching for a book when another hand reached for it at the exact same time.
Instinctively, you pulled your hand back.
"Sorry." The person laughed softly.
A familiar laugh....Your eyes lifted and for a moment neither of you spoke.
Jimin looked just as surprised as you felt.
"Y/n?"His expression softened immediately.
You blinked.
"Jimin."
He looked strangely normal today. No security guards Or cameras..nk stage makeup. Just a cream sweater, dark jeans and a couple of books tucked beneath his arm.
For some reason that made seeing him feel even stranger.
"I wasn't sure it was you," he admitted with a small smile.
"Well... it is." A laugh escaped him.
"Still reading romance novels?" You glanced down at the book in your hand and rolled your eyes.
"Yeah and I guess you too?" He nodded and his grin widened...and despite yourself..you laughed.
The sound surprised both of you...because it felt easy..Normal.
The next half hour passed much quicker than you expected.
You wandered through different aisles together..occasionally stopping to point out books or argue over which endings were terrible and which deserved awards.
It reminded you of older times before everything became complicated before every memory somehow found its way back to Jungkook.
Eventually the two of you ended up sitting near the bookstore café with iced coffees resting between you.
The conversation slowed naturally..comfortable silence settled for a moment. Then Jimin looked at you and something about his expression changed.
"You seem different." You frowned.
"Different good or different bad?" He smiled faintly. "Different happy."
Your fingers tightened slightly around your cup.For some reason that simple observation affected you more than it should have. Maybe because it had taken so long.
Maybe because there had been a time when happiness felt impossible. You lowered your gaze. "I am happy." Jimin nodded slowly and the smile on his face was genuine.
"I'm glad." You believed him..which somehow made everything harder.
You looked out the nearby window for a moment before speaking again. "I didn't think I'd get here."
"Hm?" He asked.
"The first year after I left."You laughed softly to yourself. "I was miserable."
Jimin stayed quiet...Listening.
"I didn't know anybody. I hated the city. I hated my apartment. Half the time I didn't even know why I got out of bed." The confession felt strange leaving your mouth. You rarely talked about those years.
"You know..." You smiled faintly. "There was a point where I genuinely thought maybe something was wrong with me." Jimin's expression fell immediately.
"Y/n..."
"No, it's okay." You shook your head. "Because then things slowly got better." Your smile became a little warmer. "A lot better actually."
His eyes followed the engagement ring on your finger and You noticed...So did he.
For a second neither of you said anything. Then you spoke quietly. "Jongin helped." Guilt flickered across Jimin's face.
"He makes things feel easy," you admitted. "I've never had to beg him to stay. I've never had to wonder if he loves me more one day and less the next." The words came out softer than intended.
But once they were spoken..neither of you could take them back. Jimin looked down at his drink.
His head lifted and he rubbed the back of his neck before speaking. "You just seem really happy with your fiancee."
"I am." You replied and he nodded
"Good."The word sounded heavier than it should have...he stared at the table for several seconds and then he spoke again his voice was quieter this time. "Sometimes people spend years trying to get back something they threw away."
Your brows furrowed."What?" Immediately, regret flashed across his face....like he hadn't meant to say it aloud.
"Just because somebody lets go..." He paused. "...doesn't mean they stop holding on." Your stomach dropped and the air suddenly felt heavier.
Neither of you said Jungkook's name...neither of you had to because you already knew exactly who Jimin was talking about.
neither of you knew how to recover from what had been said or perhaps what had almost been said.
Jimin tried steering the conversation back toward safer topics. Books. Travel. Music. Things that didn't leave bruises behind.
You tried too...but something had shifted. The easy warmth from earlier never quite returned..eventually you glanced at the time and stood. "I should head home."
Jimin immediately nodded."Yeah."
For a second he looked like he wanted to say something else...Maybe apologize again.
Maybe explain..Instead he simply smiled.
A small one. "Take care of yourself, okay?" You returned the smile. "You too." He walked you to the front of the bookstore before stopping near the entrance.
The afternoon sun had begun sinking lower into the sky...people moved along the sidewalks around you completely unaware of the strange heaviness sitting between the two of you.
Jimin shoved his hands into his pockets. Then..quietly..he said, "I'm sorry, Y/n." You looked up and his eyes never left the pavement.
"I'm sorry we never reached out." Your chest tightened. "We all knew you were struggling after everything happened. We knew how bad it got." His jaw flexed.
"But after what Jungkook did... after the way things ended..." He swallowed. "None of us could gather the courage to face you." The honesty caught you off guard and for a moment neither of you spoke.
Then you nodded slowly. "It's alright."
Jimin looked up...You forced a small smile. "We weren't that close, I guess." The lie tasted bitter because somewhere deep down you had expected him to reach out.
Out of all seven of them, Jimin had always been the closest to you...the easiest to talk to..but four years was a long time to hold onto expectations.
"It's all in the past anyway," you continued softly. "So let's leave it there." Your eyes stung suddenly and you hated yourself for it.
Jimin looked like he wanted to argue..like he wanted to tell you that wasn't true...that some things never stayed in the past....but before he could speak, you turned away.
"Goodbye, Jimin." And then you walked...You didn't look back.
You never saw the way he remained standing outside the bookstore long after you disappeared into the crowd...You never saw the guilt sitting heavily on his face Or the way his shoulders slumped once you were gone.
Several minutes passed before he finally reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His thumb hovered over a familiar contact. For a long moment, he simply stared at the screen.
Then..with a quiet sigh..he pressed call..The line connected on the second ring.
“…Did you see her?” Jimin closed his eyes. “Yeah.” A pause...then Jungkook’s voice came through low and dangerously calm. “how was she?” Jimin hesitated...staring down the street where you had vanished. He thought about the engagement ring on your finger. The way you had smiled when talking about Jongin. The tears you had tried so hard to hide.
he answered quietly. “She was better..happy.”
Another heavy silence stretched between them. “You should think about letting her go, Kook,” Jimin said carefully. “She’s building something real. She looked… content. Maybe we should stop this before ---”
Jungkook’s soft laugh cut him off...amused in a way that sent a chill down Jimin’s spine.
“Let her go?” Jungkook repeated almost gently. “You still don’t get it, do you, Hyung? None of you do.” His voice dropped lower...laced with something unhinged and possessive.
“We’re not normal. We never were hyung and I’m definitely not morally fit enough to do the right thing here.” A quiet..dangerous pause. “She belongs with me. Whether she’s happy with him right now or not… doesn’t change that.” Jimin swallowed hard, gripping the phone tighter.
Jungkook’s tone softened into something almost sweet....terrifying.
“So be a good brother to me and stop trying to talk me out of it. You already helped me find her once. Don’t make me do the rest alone.”
The line went quiet for a beat.
Then Jungkook added..almost tenderly,
“I’ll handle the rest from here.”
