it occurred to me that i will never stop being an adult. there’s no next, no after.
you’re a kid and you can’t wait to be a teenager, every year you’re breathless for the next. twenty, twenty-one, landmarks. thirty shimmers in the distance like a mirage. its approach so slow, to ease you in. it’s exciting, and weird, and only a little scary.
but now at thirty-two-and-a-half i’m a grownup. i have responsibilities and deadlines and people depending on me, and it’s never going to stop. there’s no summer break from anxiety. no future life stage where someone else is in charge. i have to carry this forever, until i die, and if i put it down, all i can think about is when i’ll have to pick it up again.
the weight gets heavier. every goddamn day it’s harder and harder to pick myself up.
i didn’t ask for this, i don’t want it. put it back on the dusty shelf with the childproof lock where i can’t reach. why doesn’t anyone put it back.
Happy Friday the 13th! 😁
I SAW THIS
@ericaprice2008 I don’t care if this WAS from Halloween, posting publicly to let you know it did NOT escape my attention young lady...
...and okay, it’s accurate.
What.
WHAT
Since that day in 1996 when we were all impacted by the invasion from outer space, every 4th of July that’s come after, I always think fondly upon the President’s speech that was thankfully captured in HD by some cameras at the airbase that weren’t destroyed. #happy 4th #bbq some wieners #don’t go pokin’ at fireworks that didn’t go off #may something bless America #no really #we’ll take anything at this point #srsly #bless
Helping you through Hellatus: We track down the spooky stories so you don’t have to.
Hey, SPN Family! Are you still going through monster hunting withdrawals? Perhaps we may be of assistance…
For those who don’t yet know, @butiaintgonnaloveem and I host a podcast called You Totally Made That Up that’s very much in tune with the plots on Supernatural, but with a catch: the stories we feature are true… or, at least true to the people who lived them. There’s more scoop on @youtotallymadethatup HERE in this recent post.
But Nash and Tiff, you say - I don’t listen to podcasts because I don’t have time! To this, we reply - Might we recommend some double-duty?
While you’re doing housework...
....as we’ve been told we make all that folding and ironing and scrubbing fly right by!
When you’re cooking...
....as we’ve been told that before you know it, all those watched pots start boiling!
When you’re driving....
....as we’ve been told we make traffic bearable and trips to and from work actually enjoyable!
.
Give us a go - we’ll be your entertaining friends chatting in the background and give you a giggle while you’re knocking out mundane daily activities.
Don’t know where to start? Here’s our top four episodes by listens, and all the links to the many platforms we’re on are noted on these posts as well.

We research the heck out of ‘em to make sure we’ve got our facts straight, then have a blast telling y’all all the (sometimes gory!) details. So far we’ve talked about demon possessions, werewolves, cursed families, fairies, Hollywood ghosts, and most recently corpses who’ve led some interesting lives… but after death.😉 We strive to create quality, original content for you to enjoy, and to continue improving with every episode!
If you’re interested - or if you think your followers may be interested - here’s the Master Post of Episodes, and a brand new one comes out every other Thursday. That post also includes links to all the podcast platforms we’re currently on - and we’re on most of them! - so you can click through to your favorite. Check out the blog here: @youtotallymadethatup
Thank you so much to all of you who have passed the word along to your friends and followers - the SPN Fam rocks!

The post-mission celebration complete, laughter drifted out of the room as they all left, Tony having interrupted Rhodey's story to crack another joke.
Steve hadn't made a move to follow after, and Bucky stayed behind with him. He watched the fake smile slip from his friend's face. He watched as Steve picked up a few of the forgotten cocktail glasses, brought them to the sink. And after the rinsing was done, he watched as Steve planted both hands on the counter, leaned, let out a long sigh.
Bucky walked over, put a hand on his shoulder, gave it a good squeeze. “You miss her. I’m not stupid, I can see it. We all can.”
Steve shook his head slowly. “It’s more than that. It’s like my arm got cut off, and nobody told me. I just went to reach one day… reached for her, and…”
Bucky shot him a look at the chosen reference, but then his expression softened. “It wasn’t overnight. Things like this never are.”
Steve didn't respond.
"Look, if you need to talk about it----" Bucky tried again.
"No. But thanks. I'm just going to go unpack."
