So it may come as no surprise that I've always loved coming up with characters ever since I was a little girl. Sometimes, it's fun to reimagine and repurpose some of the ones that need some TLC now they're out of my child/teen self's hands.
Rei initially started out as basically a Rei Ayanami expy (even down to the name!) but with bunny ears. I thought I could do something better with her - she worked in a maid cafe despite being a tomboy, so I thought it would be funny to make her a disgruntled barmaid in a fantasy setting!
I also made a comparison sheet between the two designs to show how different she is now; it's always been hard for me to break away from how I initially pictured a character, but it's nice to feel like I don't have to cling to certain elements I feel don't fit or are too derivative anymore.
