today’s lesson is: ladder safety! when using a ladder— of any height, be it a 20ft. prop against a building or a three-level step-stool— it’s best to have another person closeby, ensuring your safety in case of emergency. and, perhaps more crucially (and obviously): if you can’t reach what you’re reaching for on the highest available platform DO NOT over-extend your reach! get a taller ladder!
else you might end up like our exemplary bad-actor of the day. yes, after craning up onto her tippy-toes to fiddle with a newly-hung sign, (boasting seasonal specials! exciting!), Honey found herself the poster-child for ‘what not to do’ on a raised platform, and suffering the rather immediate consequences of it. one would think after so many ill-fated brushes with her old nemesis that is gravity, she might have learned better; but, alas. all she could do now was brace herself for impact, and the full-body ache which was sure to follow.
at least, that’s what she thought she was in for (rightfully so). instead of the cold, coarse embrace of the street, the sweetmaker finds herself caught in a— sturdy, yes, but— much softer hold, blinking up at the other blonde whos reflexes saved her from a world of hurt (and some very audible sobbing).
❝ oh! wow, talk about getting, like, super lucky! ❞ she beams, making absolutely no effort to leave the other woman’s grasp, even as she delicately laid one hand over her heart, ❝ here I was ready to meet my maker and everything— but instead it’s just a total babe to the rescue! ❞ she gasps, as if in shock. ❝ —unless you are my maker? like, I’d totally buy that this is what heaven looks like. ❞
