Hello again My Lord! Apologies for the rather curt tone of my last ask,
Back with a bit of an artists query, are you a fan of the Asaro model? Or any in particular?
I’m using it in my newest portrait project. And I’m hoping to capture your eminence better
Oh sweet one. Please never worry about your tone. I will be the first to tell you if it offends me.
Besides. You’re not the first to express the talons are hard to draw.
As your question…
I was taught using what I believe is called the Loomis method. Very good for proportions, light on directions on where to shade. But perfect for ritual and temple art which has a very flat affect.
My brother Fulgrim prefers the, I believe, overcomplicated Reily method. While I see its merits in capturing movement and the flow of the face. I personally think that it overcomplicates itself, and is in some ways, actually slightly more restrictive.
As for Asaro I find it beautifully strange and oddly compelling. Obviously it’s attraction is in the definition. It gives shadow and light, but there is something beyond that. Something charming about having the head already before you as a Semi-abstract model. I think of all of them it encourages the most creativity.
I look forward to seeing your finish work.
