Rei tearing into some jerks who were talking shit about Mako around her and Mako just standing there like :’D!!! and then later Mako goes home and makes Rei’s favorite baked good and brings it over to the temple that night and she’s all “that was really sweet of you earlier, s-so I just...wanted to do something for you in return” and Rei snaps into Tsundere Mode and is like “w-well it wasn’t anything special! I would have done the same thing if it was Usagi or Ami or Minako, so don’t go getting the wrong idea!!”

PGSM pretty much sets up a bit of reimako’s issues

tldr a down-low thing that flares up from time to time

Makoto being this optomist while Rei is pessimistic, but I think Mako runs the danger of Rei setting off her slightly cynical streak. Especially in regards to how both are alone but Mako in the sense of a chance while Rei was rejected

OTOH Mako is someone I think Rei could nurture (which she has a streak of doing) without gravitating to coddling her because Makoto doesn’t really want or need that, just support. Plus I know Rei seems the type not to open BUT I think Mako is so lowkey she’d come off as less judgey as Rei’s friends might accidently do

Since I read some flavors of Mako as very guy-friendly even if she doesn’t present same it’d be interesting to see how that rolls off Rei who has Issues, or if and how Mako precieves Mako to be boyish. Definately don’t see Rei warming up to any of Mako’s sidefriends if they exist
