I haven't watched this movie in aaaaages, but I remember it being perhaps one of the first Kdramas I ever watched and one that left a lasting impact on me, but I think that you'll really like The King and The Clown. Lee Junki in that movie is honestly ethereal. And the relationship between him and his friend and between him and the King was just - idk I just think about that movie even to this day.

The actor playing the “Gay of Demonic Charm”, Kim Jae-wook, played the priest in The Guest, the exorcist drama. He’s very pretty, isn’t he? I need to watch this film with him! He seems so versatile.

I’ll have to look up the other one, The King and the Clown. Thank you for the tip! 

I’ve been very lucky so far and all the Kdramas that I’ve watched were so good and so heavy on love and care between the various characters. I haven’t even realized how much I was missing this particular thing in Western - particularly American - shows, this depth of love between friends, especially men, who hug and cry and are not ashamed of LOVING their friend without the series feeling the need to immediately go “BUT NO HOMO, YA KNO?” Gosh, it’s incredibly refreshing to see that.

Author Appreciation: Fic/Meta Rec List <3 Meet some of my faves! <3

So today is August 21st, and I am told that is Author Appreciation Day! WOOT! So here are some fics and metas by some pretty awesome authors!

These first three ladies are my faves of all time, and they all know how to create emotion and bring it to life with such poetic lines and verses. I love these three so very much! They bring a smile to my face daily! <3

I See You In The Dark by @sfjessii: This will forever be on my rec lists because damn it, it is so good! I cannot express how much I love every moment of this story! I will say this, before reading this fic I was not a fan of super long chaptered fics, AUs or Angst, but this fic changed that for me. This author is brilliant and often doesn’t realize how amazing this fic and how much it means to others. But I love it when she gets into it and just being able to talk with her about it makes me smile and cry and just... djghfdkjhgdfkghdfhg. This is an ongoing fic, and I am so lucky to call the author one of my greatest friends! Parabatai Gone by @reivenesque: I love Malec, they are top OTP ever! Sometimes though the need for good Parabatai moments hits and let me tell you this beautiful author knows her shit! Shadowhunters 2x20 - It’s all in the details by @hikaru9: This lady right here! She is my meta queen, She has not written any fics *coughyetcough* but her metas are brilliant and she deserves to know how amazing and talented she is because I SPEAK THE TRUTH! When I am confused or just not thinking something clearly about Shadowhunters, usually a meta written by her makes me feel better, helps me completely understand what I was missing, or maybe even see faults and such. Okay now, these are some fics I have read recently that have really hit me hard, and I cannot express how much I love them... Just know I have so much love for them and everyone ever needs to read them... like now!

Pressure by @reallysporadicsterekart: This is a very short fic, but it leaves you feeling so very relaxed. It is so lovely and the way she describes every detail, I was swooning! So brilliant and so lovely!

Paper Thin by @prettylightwoodinspires: Magnus Bane feels all up in this! I relate so much to what he is feeling. I cried so much reading this and I read it multiple times... She is brilliant at expressing exactly what this feels like. I have dealt with Panic and Anxiety attacks for so long now and the way she taps into these feeling... Damn... BRAVO! I love this so much and cannot wait for more by her!

Meeting Catarina by @bane-of-brooklyn: This is cute and fluffy and everything I ever needed in Alec and Catarina Meeting! She gets Catarina so well! I cannot wait for more from her! I mean it this fic is awesome, fun, lighthearted! So Sweet!

Wonder by @champagnemagnus: MERMAID MAGNUS!!!! This story is brilliant and I had no idea how much I needed it until I read it! I love this so freaking much! Every word, every line so perfectly placed! This author captures Magnus and Alec so wonderfully and I cannot get enough of this fic!

I Can’t Concentrate by @blj2007: Izzy and Alec banter! WOOT! But also Malec! I mean this fic is awesome! She is so brilliant with how she writes Alec just as Alec is! I love it! This is cute and sexy and brilliant! <3

Love, Bites by @sallsmum: Parabatai and Lightwood sibling banter! Brilliant! She has a knack for making them so playful and I love it! This is definitely a cute and lighthearted read! Also a bit sexy! XD

Thank you all for the hard work and the time you spend creating this magic! You are all brilliant! I have so much love for your work, even if I don’t always express it! Thank you for that. I haven't seen it yet. But reading your meta puts me in a much better headspace to go into it and not be disappointed, so thanks.

You’re welcome! :) If you’ve now seen the finale, I’m sure you have plenty of thoughts and feelings on Theo, Liam, Thiam, and their place in that episode. For me, I’m still plenty happy with what we got of them. Would a kiss or an explicit discussion of feelings between Liam and Theo have been sweet? Sure, but I didn’t expect it in the finale. If I need those things, I can always fic it. 

I had a really long response typed up, but I’m going to pare it back so as not to totally overwhelm you. *g* Feel free to stop reading if it still looks too long. 

Suffice it to say, I am thrilled about these things re: Theo and Liam in the finale:

Scott calls Theo and asks him to find Liam and the others and “get them out of there.” SCOTT ASKS THEO TO HELP LIAM. Theo could ignore Scott and go hide somewhere. Is that what he does? Nope.

What happened to Theo and his “Look, I don't want in anyone's pack. I don't want anyone's power. I just wanna stay alive”? Liam Dunbar happened. If Liam needs Theo, then that’s where Theo goes.

Liam’s at the hospital, where cell service is being jammed. So it’s not like Theo can call Liam and find out where he is. But somehow, Theo finds Liam anyway because dammit, they’re connected. He makes his grand entrance by showing up exactly when Liam needs him—and wrapping his entire body around Liam’s because Theo’s just extra when it comes to Liam—as he yanks him into the elevator and away from the hunters.

Theo and Liam banter awkwardly about not dying for each other because this is not how and where their story ends. Not because they wouldn’t actually die for each other if it was necessary. These silly boys are suddenly shy with each other because there’s all this stuff they’re feeling and they can’t deal with it or talk about it because they have targets painted on their backs. This is not the time. And it’s a callback to “I'm on your side as long it helps me,” and “I’m not gonna help you. I’m not gonna save you. I’m gonna do exactly what you would do to me. I’m gonna use you as bait.” We all know how that turned out. ;) 

So they play battle couple again and they fight, totally in-sync, with Liam launching himself off Theo’s back. When Gabe comes back with more firepower, Theo wraps his arm around Liam and urges him in front, thereby making it more likely that he’ll get shot instead of the person he loves most in the world Liam.

Gabe shoots Theo in the shoulder. Seconds later, Gabe’s comrades shoot Gabe. He’s dying. Injured Theo, his face a mirror of Gabe’s agony, shuffles forward and takes Gabe’s pain. Theo takes the pain of this boy who was just shooting at him and Liam. This boy who has been hunting supernaturals for sport. This mixed-up, bloody, dying boy who maybe reminds Theo a little of himself, and even if there aren’t any similarities he’s still a person—a person who’s in pain. “It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts.” 

Theo has learned or relearned empathy. Part of that came from his time in in hell. Part of it came from watching Liam, who struggles with anger but has this huge heart that allows him to risk everything for other people. I repeat: Theo has learned to be a better person at least in part by having Liam (unconsciously) model it for him. How crazy wonderful is that?

Who witnesses this evidence of Theo’s empathy? Mama McCall. LIAM. Corey. Mason. 

I’ll wear rose-tinted glasses and deliberately ignore the fact that Teen Wolf violated its own canon by setting up this “You can only take pain if you care” business. (Deucalion showed Theo how to take pain, power, and life in Season 5. Theo then took all of the above from Tracy and Josh, who he definitely did NOT care about.)

I could keep going, but I’m going to stop now. I want more Theo, more Liam, and more Thiam. But if this is all I’m ever going to get of them onscreen, I’m at peace with that.
