Type: Relationship Type

Definition: Queerplatonic, also called Quasiplatonic, Qplatonic, or often just QPR, is a label used to describe a relationship that is committed relationship that isn't romantic, but goes beyond what society would consider normal or acceptable for a platonic relationship. Each QPR and what it involves will vary based on the individuals. Queer Platonic Relationships are common with a-spec individuals, though they aren't the only ones allowed to be in a QPR. Those in QPRs don't necessarily have to consider themself queer. QPRs can be Polyamorous, and one can be in a QPR and a romantic relationship if all parties communicate about it.

a strong relationship and link between two or more individuals based in olinanic (link) attraction where the individuals' olinanicism is intertwined together despite any personal differences in their definitions and experiences of olinanic attraction. olinages are deeply personal and instinctual to the individuals, celebrating their shared and distinct feelings for each other.

this may overlap or be used in tandem with queerplatonicism or QPRs for some individuals, but can be / is distinct in its own way.

an olinage may be associated with physical affection, comfort and trust, gentleness, love that transcends traditional forms of attraction, everlasting support, shared experiences, softness, commitment to seeing someone, understanding them, striving to make each other healthier, welcoming purposeful dependency and mutual need for each other, etc if they so choose.

olinages may be likened to or appear romantic in practice and explanation due to including typical forms of romanticism displayed in physical affection, deep love, petnames, and devotion to one another. individuals in olinages may internally confuse the two due to the similarities, the strength of the connection, and wanting or craving standard signs of romantic or other attraction. despite this, olinages are distinctly and comfortably unromantic and olinanic in nature.

these relationships are unlikely to pose "threats" or be comparable to other romantic relationships, if desired, due to their unromantic nature. however, olinages between multiple individuals may be likened to polyamory or a polycule, regardless of the individuals' personal -amorous identities in romantic relationships.

individuals olinages may refer to each other as their olin(s), link(s), or other partnered terms

olinages may overlap and exist in tandem with the individuals romantic relationships, if applicable. an example may be an olinage polycule where two are dating romantically, and consider each other to be both olins and romantic partners, experiencing a mix of both romantic+ and olinanic attraction

Semiship: kind of like a "gray area" relationship, a semiship is a relationship that isn’t as committed or "deep" as relationships are expected to be, by preference of those involved. For example, someone could prefer to remain in the casual flirting stage of a sensual relationship, and only occasionally and lightly exchange sensual actions without investment of a serious sensual relationship, for orientation, lifestyle, and other personal reasons. Waverships may fluctuate into the semiship area, as well, and "soft romo" relationships are usually semiships. Can also be useful to describe relationships between two members of a polyamorous or group relationship who aren't dating but still romantically interacting occasionally. You can also be both in a full relationship and a semiship with someone in different ways, like having a full queerplatonic relationship and a physical semiship at the same time, only having a semi-sexual relationship but a typical committed queerplatonic relationship.

For clarification, this is a relationship type that should always involve the consent and understanding of all parties involved, just like all relationships. It is NOT a desciptor or excuse for abusive behavior or unhealthy relationships- if you want a semiship or only feel semi-into any given relationship, tell your partner. It can really suck if you don't, especially if you end up committing way more than you're comfortable with. You'll both get hurt. Normalize semiships! Normalize preferring semiships! Relationships are a varied spectrum, and healthy understanding and expressing of your own relationship preferences is okay. You're not shallow or heartless for wanting semiships, even if you want semiships exclusively.

This term is usable by everyone, but was coined with aro/ace/aspecs in mind, particularly gray-a orientations (like cupio-, fray-, and desino-), as well as fluitic, non-monoamorous, and neurodivergent folks.

I wish there was a relationship type called friendship but like more than friendship. There was a realationship type called friends with benefits but not sexual benefits just emotional benefits.
