Why am I wearing a long sleeve shirt in almost 80 degree weather?
Because I am excited to announce that I will be running the GAP Trail Relay with Girls on The Run!
On their website GOTR explains that their group “inspires girls to take charge of their lives and define the future on their terms. It’s a place where girls learn that they can. No limits. No constraints. Only opportunities to be remarkable." This is a group that I wish I would have had when I was younger and am glad that I can help now!
But how can you help me help them? Good question!
For this race I have to raise $500 so if you can donate that’s awesome, but if that’s not in your budget at the moment please share and spread the word so I can get enough donations for this awesome group! (Donate here: https://www.gotrmagee.org/fundraiser/Amanda-L-GOTR-Magee-2019-SoleMate-84320 )
I can’t wait to meet my team and share this awesome experience with all of you! This is going to be an event I will never forget 💖
Loma - Relay Runner
Texas project Cross Record and Shearwater’s Jonathan Meiburg surprised us a few weeks ago by partnering up and announcing a new band named Loma. Accompanying the news was first release Black Widow, an icy haunting, willowy gusting beauty that came with an eerie visual accompaniment. The trio will be releasing their self-titled debut album on February 16th via Sub Pop, which I’ve heartily pre-ordered today after hearing their second single, Relay Runner, an avant-garde krautrock infused experimental piece that draws us into a deep hypnosis. It’s an edgy and restless meditation, strange and delightful in every way. You too can pre-order Loma’s debut album, here.
150 miles, a sore hip, a bug bite on my butt, a crazy hill, tons of laughs, and a truck full of snacks later and I can say I’ve completed the GAP Trail Relay!
What an experience. I can say that I was definitely prepared for certain things but not for others. I’m going to treat this as a learning experience and try to not be too hard on myself.
My times were not where I wanted them to be and my first mile was a crazy hill I wasn’t prepared for where I pulled something in my hip and then ended up having to walk/run the rest of the race.
But overall my 19 miles were a crazy good experience and I got to try new things like running at night and running in Maryland, as well as trying a relay!
My team was amazing and I’m so glad that I got to meet them! I really hope we all stay in contact with each other.
Since the race I came home and napped and then woke up to eat and then went back to sleep for almost 11 hours 😂😂😂 so yeah I was exhausted!
But I would 100% do it again!
Sports day brought back so many memories 💙💛❤️
