Why Brexit Is Bullshit, And Always Was.
Copied and pasted from Facebook
66 million people were lied to. Here is how:
Here is EVERY SINGLE POINT made on the official 'Vote Leave' website/leaflet, followed by my own research on the subject:
1. 'Save £350 million a week' - actually, the benefits of EU trading standards outweigh the membership costs to the tune of at least £450 million a week profit (that's the lowest estimate I've found - IFS estimates it at upward of £1 billion a week...)
2. 'We'll be in charge of our own borders' - we already are, as we are not part of the EU Border Free Zone, and therefore, as far as EU law is concerned, have complete independent control.
3. 'We can control immigration' - actually, we refused to adopt EU legislation that would have allowed us to repatriate any EU immigrant who wasn't employed and paying taxes within three months of entering the UK.The fact that we refused to adopt the law meant that WE are responsible for mismanaged immigration, and nobody else.
4. 'We'll be free to trade with the rest of the world' - we already were, except we had the benefit of the largest and most powerful trade union in the world negotiating on our behalf.
5. 'We can make our own laws' - of 35,000 UK laws since 1996, only 4,500 have had anything to do with the EU. Of those 4,500 laws, only 72 weren't directly voted for by our democratically elected MEPs. 72... out of 35,000...
6. 'Turkey might join the EU' - in 10 years, Turkey only managed to fulfil one of the 35 conditions of joining the EU. Even if they did join, the UK had already exercised their right to reject free movement of Turks.
7. 'The EU will cost us more and more' - Vote Leave made this assertion, and have so far failed to provide any evidence for it.
8. 'We will have to keep bailing out the Euro' - there is a clause in the UK's membership that says that any payment made from the EU budget to bail out EuroZone countries will guarantee a full reimbursement to the UK for their contribution.
9. 'The European Court are in charge of our laws' - this section made two points...
a) - 'How much tax we pay' - simply, it doesn't... it is EU law that individual members' government are solely responsible for tax levels. The only EU influence on taxes is a proposed law to make tax evasion and avoidance more difficult.
b) - 'Who we let in and out of the country, and on what term' - I refer you to point 3...
17 million people believed these lies. 17 million out of 66 million.
Somebody explain to me on what basis we 'must leave, do or die'...?
