James chuckles as he watches Esen, his arms crossed over the gold trimmed fabric of his coat as he comes closer. He circles around Esen where he sits on Lucky’s back, watching him get used to the idea of riding a horse for the first time. Glove clad leather hands rest on Lucky’s neck, giving her affectionate pats as he watches Esen.

“yes it is.” esen insists. “he wants me to improve myself, to make me better. I’M GRATEFUL TO HIM for this, even if he is disgusted by me.” esen hears somebody bark his name though, && HE FREEZES IN PLACE.
“i should go. it’s nice talking with you, cry.”
“My ASS ‘I should go’,” Cry growls, icy blue eyes narrowed and glaring just beyond Esen’s shoulder, in the direction in which the voice had originated. Her fingers curl into the fabric of her uniform as she thinks, mind whirring. Does she shove past and confront, or grab Esen and hightail it out of there.
“That isn’t love-” LIKE SHE WOULD KNOW “-and you’re coming with me.” Her hand clamps down on his wrist, and she’s dragging him in another direction, AWAY FROM THAT YELL.

It needed to be done, they keep telling themselves that, it needed to be done. They did it to protect Esen, like Doug had done to protect them. They look at the stretcher other finders are carrying in with them, looking at the large red stain coming more of the white fabric covering him. They’re responsible for Judah’s death, AND THEY DO NOT REGRET IT.
