hello! last night my friend and i decided we wanted to do a lesbian cowboy story. i want to make my character native american (im thinking she’ll be from the zuni tribe, could change tho this is a super new story rn) and i’m trying to find anything on if she being a cowboy would be offensive in any way and i can’t find anything other than like in general not doing racist portrayals in westerns? still, both myself and my friend are white so i figured it’s better to ask just in case. thanks!

Native Cowboys

A lot of cowboys back in the day were Black, Native and/or Latinx. “Bucaroo” is an anglicization of the Spanish vaquero, for example. In many ways, the reason they’re cowboys is a diminutive from white society; PoC were often not granted the title of “man” or “mister.”

like even in season one catra keeps blaming her problems on adora leaving - in episode eleven she asks “who do you think took the fall for you when you left? who do you think had to answer to shadow weaver while you were gone?" as if it’s adora’s fault that shadow weaver decided to punish her.

and then later on catra says "you never protected me! not in any way that would put you on shadow weaver’s bad side!”

like obviously the blame lies with shadow weaver for abusing her, and not with adora for failing to prevent that abuse, but it’s much easier to be angry with someone who won’t hurt you for lashing out! much easier to be angry with adora than it is to shrug off years of conditioning and change your entire world view!!!

so, there’s a few things about this episode. i’ve played in a game where a player conspired w the gm to kill her pc, and it reminded me a LOT of this. clint absolutely planned it with griffin. now, aubrey has rolled high to save a dying/dead character before, dewey. she thought he failed but he became a ghost. dewey wasn’t a big npc, so why kill and bring him back? easy. foreshadowing. it’s already clear ned’s death was planned so this could have been showing us what is to come! not only this, but there’s a mechanic in motw literally revolved around resurrection. or, the monstrous playbook can be a ghost and duck switched playbooks so we know it’s something griffin is willing to do. long story short, we’re getting ghost ned babey! (2/2)

I think you’re right! The griffin-clint conspiracy and resurrection mechanic appear to be general consensus among most of my friends and mutuals. However, what’s interesting about the resurrection thing is that if it doesn’t work out, the resurrected person comes back “strange” - missing memories, strange inhuman appetites, etc etc. Resurrecting ned might do more harm than good... and regardless, it’ll be an interesting to see, if it ever plays out

i’ve listened to one episode of nadndp so far and just described it as “so an ex high school football star, the moss lesbian who possess hozier, and angus mcdonald but a halfling walk into a bar”, how accurate am i. (moonshine might be bi, idk, again only one episode in)

moonshine would probably think hozier is cool but she’s got more of a “jug, spoons, and washboard” vibe musically
